The Leeds United fans chant was in direct response to Mings having a spoilt hissy fit after booting the ball out for a needless throw-in. Captain and leader? He’s constantly reduced to frantic gum chewing, pointing (itself a sly insinuation that other defenders are out of position) and endless hoofs up the pitch to lose possession. All of which would be forgivable, even a bit endearing if not for the fact that he’s taken it upon himself to present his views to the media as some sort of Next Level Warrior. You could almost hear Dean Smith take a deep gulp before belatedly dropping him. He’s a footballer, that’s all he is, with opinions that are no more valid than the average bloke in the street. As for playing for England, he’s only selected against inferior opposition where he safely does as he’s told and passes the ball sideways for the duration. No wonder Southgate loves him. In my opinion, Mings is pulling a fast one on all of us, it’s just a shame that many of you are so easily fooled.

Sorry, have a missed something; what have his personal opinions got to do with his on-field performances for Villa?

Mings isn't trying to fool anyone, and you're fooling nobody.

don't care what Leeds support think of Mings and wouldn't be surprised if most other fans from other football clubs  think the same

Tuanzebe was shite.

Indeed.

Also, even though our Ty has been a bit frustrating at times on the pitch this season the evaluation further up this page is pretty OTT to say the least. He needs some better competition but that’s about it really.

Oh dear, chewing gummist and ‘next level warrior’?? Why because he dares to talk about issues of race, when interviewed as a high profile sportsperson.
If you want to talk about him making mistakes on the pitch, having a mare, having a great game or both, fair enough. But whats him chewing gum or having ‘opinions’ got to do with any of that.

FWIW, I thought that Mings was just about the one Villa player who came out of the Newcastle game having given anything like a decent performance.

That’s some real detest coming out there for our captain.

He’s mostly been brilliant on our rise up from great levels of awful and along the way shown very good leadership qualities on and off the field. He’s late to the game and playing at a very high level now, that’s some achievement if you ask me. He makes the odd error, however the good out ways the bad for me. Other players who get far less criticism make more mistakes in a game than Mings.

At the moment most of our players are good enough for the level we are at, a mid table team, if we are to progress I’m sure Mings as well as many others will be replaced over time.

Mings is great and I'm really proud of him.  Brackley is a doghole by the way.

Wow Brackley!  I take it that you'll be voting for Tyrone Mings as your player of the season.

Yep same here. When he's not making mistakes his all round play is usually pretty good. He's got all the attributes needed to be a great, it's just that his concentration and mistakes let him down.

Totally agree.  He's one of a few players that have been with us for a few years and still justify a starting place, but have elements of their game that make them less of a target for clubs already in the European Cup.  Mings, McGinn and possibly, though he's in very average run of form, Luiz fit that mold.  If their top form was consistent they'd probably be at other clubs (see Jack Grealish).

I like Mings and remain hopeful he will sort the consistency issues out.  Same with McGinn.
