There's no doubt he has a mistake in him but overall I think we are a better team with him in it.  I don't agree that Konsa doesn't make mistakes but when he does they don't seem to be seized on in the same way.  I do think we need a better third centre back who is better than Hause but I suspect Mings will be around for a long time to come as his overall contribution is massive.

I love him, on and off the pitch. A handsome mofo as well.

He’s like the David James of defenders, has the odd mistake in him/questionable concentration but often quite brilliant & a top bloke & leader, if we improve next season as a team & climb up the league towards Europe he’ll have to improve, just like every other player, but that’s for another day.

I think people let sentiment get in the way of objectivity sometimes, which is understandable because he is a supurb fella.

Some of the things he does defensively is of the highest level, his blocking, tackles, his leadership. I would call top class. I also think (this is my opinion) that he has a mental weakness where he can struggle under pressure and make a gaff which those top players rarely do. His mistakes yesterday, he does them often and in most games. Every now and then they do lead to a goal.

As our captain, he does take responsibility for receiving the ball under pressure. His limitations though cause him to hoof the ball to the opposition, thus bringing pressure back on ourselves which happens too often in tight games.

I think there was a reason that there was a public uproar when he last started an England game, his form had visibly dropped. Also why Dean Smith dropped him, although soon reinstating him as regardless he is still on of our best two defenders. His links to the top clubs have also faded away.

I get why people love him, because I do to. I personally just think his vulnerabilities and limitations are too big and in the long term, he needs someone of a higher quality to compete with for a place in the team. Note how I say compete and not replace.

I think Tyrone will do for this season and in the summer when we sign Adam Webster he will be under pressure next season.

When he put the ball out for a corner with a terrible back pass to Emi was the only blip on his performance for me yesterday. He's a real leader, even when Grealish was captain Mings was the real leader.

Thought his interview on match of the day was absolute class.

He got caught under a couple of long balls as well, but other than that he was good and blocked or cleared nearly everything.

The more work he has to do, the better he is. Give him a ninety-minute bombardment and he'll be superb. Let him have time to think for a bit and he'll make a mistake.

Our win percentage is something like 11% without him. No sentiment there.

He'd have been brilliant under Lambert on that basis

Agreed. In the last 9 games without him we won 1 drew 2 lost 6. I'd say that's pretty conclusive.

He has the occasional brain fart, but that's far outweighed by the good. I really don't get the negativity??

He's our club captain, generally a colossus at the back who leads by example - Not just on the field, but off it too. One of a small number of footballers who you could genuinely say is a role model for kids.

We'd be fucked without him.

To be fair, I think that could be said of the whole team, I'm never more nervous with us than when we're dominating a game, we seem to lose focus

Mings just being a top fella

Whatever people may say about him on the pitch I'd be happy for him to have some sort of role with the club for as long as he likes because of the stuff like this. This is what I want from the club captain.
