Yeah, Cash got dragged in too close to the goal but watch Luiz again. At one point he is just standing in the D. If he is sharp and on his feet he cuts out that ball. Instead he just stops in no man's land with Marsh unmarked behind him. Just didn't see where the danger was quickly enough.

It's not one bad game with Mings, it's habitual lapses in concentration and bad decision making.  Stood off Bamford twice and allowed him to get it onto his left and score (not just him but he should have done better);  Leaving McGinn to mark the biggest aerial threat Vestergaard against Southampton and then not jumping for the second free kick which went straight over his head and in - a trick he then repeated for England.  And then the walkabout on Saturday (and a generally poor performance) which as others have pointed out he's done before at Newcastle.  It's like he forgets he's not playing on the left of a back 3 when he comes back from England duty.  When he can avoid errors he's good, but that's not often enough.

Aye, he has weaknesses.

He's certainly not the Caesar level he was in the Championship. But as others have pointed out, he didn't play a whole lot of games as a centre back for Bournemouth before we signed him.

So essentially -despite the England recognition - he's still learning on the job.

I would have liked to see a Jonny Evans or similar come in in the summer. I'd still like to see that now. Whether starting alongside Mings or Konsa.  Someone who is experienced at this level and prepared to dish the bollockings out. Not Lescott-style-going-through-the motions knob head experience though.

Fcuk that for a game of soldiers.

Roaring at full backs as you miss another cross. You utter Kryten cockwomble.

One journo suggested that was Mings fifth booking this season ruling him out of the Palace match on Boxing Day? I've checked the stats and he's only on 3 bookings this season? Mind you, it was a needless booking last night.

I thought that when the booking came up on the screen last night until my son pointed out that the number 5 next to his name was his shirt number not the number of bookings. D’oh!

I agree it was a needless booking but I think the ref was a fault more than Mings. A little bit of common sense and a "don't be silly" would've been enough.

I think he's starting to mature as a central defender now. I think the more experience he gets, the more solid and consistent he's going to become.

In home games, when we're on the front foot more I still worry about us over-committing and being exposed to the counter attack but in away games we look really solid. When Allardyce changed things in the last 15 minutes, I thought that it would play into our hands and we would pick them off and so we did.

He’s playing well at the moment, showing leadership and helping Hause get to to grips with the league and those long balls down the left are becoming a real threat.

Is he suspended for the Palace game? The Villa View think he is, Birmingham Mail Claret and Blue reckon not.

No, he's only got 3 yellow cards.

It's worth mentioning that I've read that December 31st is the cut-off date for getting a 1 game suspension for 5 yellow cards.

It's 19 games, which will currently be after Southampton at the end of January for us. 32 for 10.

And I've just seen that where I got that from was in a previous year when we would have played 19 games. Glad to be corrected by someone who knew when the cut-off is.

It got mentioned before, and I wasn't sure if it'd be a set date/weekend seeing as we've now played two games fewer than most.

Anyway, isn't Targett our next cab off this particular rank?
