'Some fans would boo him taking a knee. “Yes, of course,” he says. “I wouldn’t really care because any Aston Villa fan that wants to turn up and support me but not support an antiracism message is no fan of mine''

Absolutely spot on message. Shame the Times article is behind a paywall.

Great to read, thanks AnsellsVillaman.
It certainly is a contrast to one or two others that don’t need to be mentioned to have such a dignified figure at the heart of the club. Of course we want to win everything, but I’d always ideally want to succeed in the right way. I like the sense that Tyrone can be hard but fair, as others say hopefully after last season’s experience he can step up to have less mistakes, you do have a sense that if anyone can learn it’s him.

Can't think of many players talking about working in an executive position and it not sounding absurd. Class act.

There are few players that impress off the pitch as much as Mings. For an England player to speak out so strongly about the FA’s nervousness about the BLM movement and obvious compromise on the shirt sleeve logo takes a lot of confidence and strength of conviction.  I applaud you Tyrone.

Yeah especially when you consider 10,000 people complained to Ofcom about a dance

Mings has offered to replace any shirt with his old squad number on with his new one as has Konsa. Fair play to them both.

Jack Grealish has offered to replace any shirt a Man united fans has bought with his name on with a Djemba Djemba one.

thought Mings was poor last night - he will need to improve greatly if he wants to be in contention to play for England

Applause 😊 - very funny !
Although shouldn’t Grealish be offering 2 shirts , one for each of the twins ?

Why was he poor?

A few instances of the previously worrying habit of being too casual in possession. He got caught out a couple of times. It had the feel of a pre-season friendly about it as several players - Mings included - lacked intensity and concentration.

An obvious example being the clearly offside 'goal' that Burton scored. Their 9 was stood a yard in front of Nyland and was missed by the officials and by our keeper not highlighting the problem.

Oh, I see. I've not had the chance to watch the game yet.

I'd say that's a bit harsh, I think comfortable rather than too casual and that was, as you say, because it really did feel like a final pre-season game rather than a cup match and we probably had 10 minutes at the end of each half where collectively we upped it to 2nd gear and scored 3 good goals and missed a couple of other decent chances.

Thought Mings did OK given the porous midfield in front of him. I do agree he is nowhere near England international standard based on most of last season's form. I think next season will see us sign players that make him a squad player, but there are more pressing issues in the team this season (forwards, wingers, left back and ball winner).
