Very pleased that he’s joining, but I think we are being exploited by other clubs because everyone knows that we are having to re-build (and raise the quality of) our whole squad in one go. In the same Guardian article as the Mings news, Bournemouth are reportedly signing a full back for £4m.

I've seen it reported the initial fee is £18.9m and "the £26m includes a lot of ad-ons and most of it will not even come into play for #avfc for at least a couple of years if ever at all."

Shit, does that mean we won't win the Premiership this season and the CL the following?

Total lack of ambition.

I keep forgetting Wolves are in the Premiership. How can we compete.

For all Love Island fans. When Mings is signed I will feel like Curtis on being told that he and Tommy are staying on the island for the rest of the summer. # bromance # Up the Villa !!

All very disconcerting coming from a Brummie 60 year old heterosexual bloke who has been happily married for 35 years , but we live in troubling times.

Delighted. Welcome home Tyrone!

In the grand scheme of things, whether it’s £20m or £26m, the fee still represents good value in the Premier League transfer market particularly for English players...he’s worth way more than that to us as a club, fans and the success we achieved last season. We’ll see much worse players than Tyrone being sold for higher fees, and glad this one looks like it will be completed this week.

Very good news. He's exactly the sort of leader we will need this season.

Like many on here I will be delighted if he signs -  has a great attitude and appears to be a leader - almost " John Terry" like which will serve us well in our first season back in the Top division

I liked him when I heard about him giving that Ipswich fan two tickets for the match when he couldn't afford to go. Mings is one of the good guys in football.

Just want it announced now. If he cna stay fit I think he's going to make the fee look like a bargain.

He was the main one I wanted, in today's market we know he's worth the money as long as he stays fit. Not sure if/what clubs do against insuring this type of thing, but fingers crossed it won't be an issue and he should follow in the footsteps of the likes of Laursen and Ugo in his pomp.

He's worth the money if he can do it in the top flight.

I'm very happy we've signed him, but he and a number of other of our players face a proper challenge now.

Well, I reckon he looked miles better than John Terry did in the Championship, and injury problems aside, doesn’t appear to have a weakness to his game.

Massively overpriced but in this era of imaginary money who cares. Can only assume Dean and Suso have adjusted the overall budget and list of targets accordingly.

Money talk aside, assuming he signs on the bottom line, greatly relieved to see Tyrone coming home. Welcome back mate. We missed you this last month!
