It’ll be like a new signing.
Better than that for me. We know how good he is and he loves playing for us. Great news

Unfortunately tv backed prem league football  means stupid transfer fees and stupid wages. It was the case before we left it and it still is, so there should be no shock there! £20m is monopoly money to me but it's getting us a player already established at the club. Imagine £20m on an unknown cb! In 08/09 I think we paid £9m for Davis and similarly for Cuellar. So +£11m over a 10 year period doesn't sound too bad for a crucial position in the team. I know TM has only played in the prem league 17 times, but a certain £50m manure defender has only 42 prem league appearances. That's the prem league for you. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing TM back!

The only concern over Mings for me would be his injury record, but thats a slight worry.

He was imperious for the 2 half of last season. Head and shoulders the best defender in the championship, with a calmness and quality on the ball to suggest he will be very good at the higher level.

Mings can only get better.

Very clever. A Dream come true.

Tyrone Mings is travelling to Birmingham tonight after #avfc agreed a £20m fee with #afcb. Huge coup for Dean Smith and Villa chief executive Christian Purslow

It's confusing not knowing whether he is our record signing or not.

Need to buy another player for £30 million+ to settle the issue.

I love the fact that fans of other teams have no idea just how good he is. They’ll learn.

We can debate the price all night long but in the end how do we all feel knowing Tyrone Mings will be in our defence at Spurs? That’s worth way more than money.

Well said, exactly how I feel.

Mings played 18 games for us last season, and we lost two of them, when he’d just signed and was getting up to speed. I think the price is fair all round, and that we’ll be snorting with derision at £60m bids from Man City next year.

Agreed.
And that fact that we are playing spurs is in no small way down to him.
£20m is a reflection of his value to us.

Welcome home.

15 goals conceded in the 18 games he played. Think only time we conceded more than once was Sheffield United game.

He was as important to getting promoted as Tammy or Jack I think.

I've seen it reported the initial fee is £18.9m and "the £26m includes a lot of ad-ons and most of it will not even come into play for #avfc for at least a couple of years if ever at all."

Shit, does that mean we won't win the Premiership this season and the CL the following?
