John Percy is usually a pretty reliable source about us and he's tweeted that we are miles away on Mings Phillips and Webster, so much so that talks on all three have broken off. All three clubs want too much money.

No he hasn’t he’s said mings could be a done deal this week this is his quote on Twitter.

Update of sorts, if you want.. Big issue with fees - Phillips, Benrahma and Webster. Dialogue on hold on those 3. Mings could move on this week. Cahill is a possibility, but there are other clubs in. Villa want 8-9 signings.

hang on Mings 'could' is the operative word - and other journalists are suggesting they want £25m and we are not prepared to pay it.

£25m for an historically injury-prone backup defender they supposedly don't want. I don't care how inflated the market is, I'd laugh them off the court at that and offer them the ghost of Micah Richards and a graphic designer so they can replace their shite 'crest' with something that doesn't look it came from the Soviet Union in the '80s.

Jumped up gits.

I’d just pay it to be honest, all of the prices are mental for everyone.

Cahill on £100k a week is a shit deal. No resale, potentially finished. Pay proper money and get a player who may be the real deal. We've already paid £20+ for a forward from an average league who may or may not be crap.
Absolutely 100% this. Let’s pay what they want and stop haggling. Mings is who we want not poor substitute

I dont think our social media fans have helped this one, every post he or Villa put up is plastered with variations of When you signing/sign Mings.

Anybody connected with the Bourenmouth PR department can see how much pressure our lot are putting on the club and player to get this one done asap, so im not surprised they're asking daft money for him.

And Mings didn't help himself. Parading around Bournemouth in his Villa kit.

You can thanks those cnuts in Manchester for as usual inflating the market.  £50m for Basasaka is ridiculous.  Everyone else is now saying we will have a bit of that.

25 million for a player who has played 17 times for Ballmouth in the prem is scandalous and stinks of greed. But if he's as good as we all think then he could be worth double that in a couple of years. Just pay it.

If they want £25m, you would hope we could negotiate a deal where we end up paying that fee, but based on appearances over a period of time.

If we were going to pay it, I think we would have. We will try and lower the fee or get a cheaper alternative. Same with Webster. I guess our interest in the guy from Aberdeen died once Bruce moved on?

We are all keen to get on with things, but paying £25 million for a player who wouldn't have fetched half that six months ago is madness. If they would rather have an unhappy player on their bench than £15 million or so to play with, good for them. Also, if we are daft enough to pay £25 million, every other club will think we are daft enough to pay their asking price, too, and will bump up their demands accordingly.

There are plenty of defenders in the world.

Move on.

£25M for a defender of Mings' quality doesn't seem that outlandish to me.  Not when Maguire is valued at c. £90M.
