You are right Footy. Surely he's not going to pick Maguire as he has not played much lately, unless there is a request from manu for England to raise his match fitness level, and Cody has been totally gash.

Don't think I'd pick any of them if I were Southgate. Get Tomori and Guehi in there, or whichever other youngish centre-back they think has got potential and give them 15 games to build a partnership. So that next time there's no need to bring Maguire out of Man Utd's reserves.

Having a loyal and supportive manager is commendable, but there should be certain requirements for players

Certainly, I believe that the England national team needs to be refreshed, and players like ones mentioned given opportunity ahead of Maguire and others like Kyle Walker and Eric Dier who shouldn't really be taken into Squad consideration.

Mings would be a great assest to any national team squad in what he brings on and off the field.

So Ty and Diego were born on near enough the same day? It must have been written in the 1983 stars that they would one day form a lethal partnership that would destroy everything in its path.

I thought Guehi was shit when we played them the other week. I'd definitely have Mings in the squad, I think he's a good influence to have around, even if he's your 4th or 5th choice to play.

Liverpool never did get to field their dream team of Gianluigi Buffon and Jamie Carragher at the back.

He was generally excellent yesterday, the timing and weight of much of his passing was delightful. A shame he didn't manage to score when really he should have done, and credit there to Konsa for great movement inside the box, and a splendid cut back.

Yes would have loved him
to have scored against that lot .  I am sure they boo him yet they didn’t want him

That’s the best I’ve seen him this season. A complete defensive performance.

In the Holte am not sure I heard a peep out of them all game? Maybe a bit of a murmur when they got a free kick.

That's great accolade and acknowledgment to his form

Mings is the only defender nominated
Since the others are all attacking players, Mings technically earns Defender of the Month.
Salah, Saka, Isaks, McCallistair, and Tossard have all been chosen alongside Mings.
How is Watkins not nominated?

I also believe that players who are nominated for player of the month should automatically be called up to the national squad.
