Good start to the season for the Pears.  Solid enough looking enough line up.

Batting line up still looks thin but recruitment of both overseas thus far has been top notch :-)

Dolly must be close to being taken out of firing line, walking wicket

He wouldn't get in my best 11 Gareth.  Great to have Wessels, Ferguson, Fell, Cox, Mitchell in the batting line up.  Be even better with Moeen in there.  I hope Tongue comes of age this season too.  Capable of bowling very quickly.

133/4 now, their #3 is sticking around a bit, I reckon if they can see him off this could be a good day for us. Not following properly though so not sure how it's going.

It's hard when all the work is falling on 2 bowlers. Brookes is finding his way back but he'll get there, I'm really unsure of Miles from what I've seen. Thomson getting a few more overs would've been good but I guess he had a problem.

Mlies hasn't impressed so far. Jeets did really well with six wickets.
I see Sidebottom is injured as well! Also Hain is out with a knee problem. Norwell hasn't bowled a single ball this season - pec strain??)  Olly and Bell still out. I think Thomason and Lamb are injured.... the list grows by the day.

Norwell took a 5-fer for the seconds this week so he’s nearing first team action. Thomson was easily our most consistent performer in the RL. We seem to be getting through the worst of the injuries now. Lamb also played in that match and scored 77 in the first innings.

This will be a consolidating season in red ball cricket, the injuries don’t help but several of our young players have gained valuable first class experience which will help us in the long term.

Dom Sibley has reached his ton, that’s 6 centuries in 6 successive first class matches.

Hopefully when we have a full squad we'll be able to pick up a few wins because as much as getting experience is helpful we can't be resigned to a relegation battle halfway through the 2nd match of the summer and having a couple of the youngsters properly step up and show they're at the level we want would be a massive positive, especially with Bell and Jeets both nearing the end of their careers.

Bears 1st innings coming to an end now, 231/9 Sibley still there with OHD. If we can we should try to push for 250 for the bonus point, I think I'd encourage Sibley to have a bit of a flash.

Both innings have been pretty similar but where they showed a bit of resistance with Donald who stuck with Alsop we've not had anyone lower down who's been able to hang in. Also think that Sibley could've done more to protect the strike at times, particularly with OHD who's faced more deliveries than you'd want in this partnership.

I understand there was a need to remodel the squad and bring in younger players, but without Bell, Stone and Woakes, it looks a very average team to be totally honest.  Barker and Trott in particular don't seem to have been replaced with players anywhere near the same kind of quality.
