I'd rest the whole first team, let the u23s have a chance.

Not for me. A few changes maybe, but let's go for a win.

I think defence especially Hutton and Chessie need resting
As do Hourihane and Mcginn in midfield

Be nice to give Hogan and Davis starts so hope smithy can be flexible with the whole 1 striker also Revans at left back for the opportunity to play

The  midfield picks itself perhaps with lansbury to come on

Steer in GK
Defence
Elmo Bree  Elphick  Revans

Midfielder
Whelan
Bjarnasson.

Attack wide
Adomah
Bolasie

Free role
Al Ghazi

Strike position
In ultra clear H D
Hogan Davis !

Let's say 3-1 win

Presume Kalinic is cleared to play this? If so, might be no harm to play him behind Elphick and Chester. Don't think we have another option at centre back anyway.

-----------------Kalinic
Bree, Elphick, Chester, Taylor
-----------BB, Lansbury,
 Adamoah, El Ghazi, Kodjia
-----------------Davis*

* certain Hogan will start but Davis as a focal point would be the better fit.

In his latest pressing, Mr. Woodhall opined that the game was likely to be a match between a Villa Representative X1 and Swansea's U23's. Even allowing for irony, this may turn out to be something like the truth.

Agree about Davis, but would also think about playing Kodjia centrally.  The new keeper should start, so it will be interesting to see how he goes.  I get the feeling that Smith quite rates Lansbury and that he might get a chance, so he might get a game.  I would stick with Bree at right back for now, so would give him more game time there and would play Taylor if he is fit.

I would like to see Jake Doyle-Hayes given a chance in the defensive midfield role with a bit of experience around him and see how he does.

I don’t think we will be taking this competition seriously.  The ticket prices are a clue.  Hope I’m wrong.

Is that a 4-5-2 you're going with?

Not many seats left on the ticketing site. Is it a case of people buying a cheap ticket though for points and not turning up?

Given the digital requirements for entering the ground these days, surely the club could know if you've actually turned up or not?

Meant as reference history, on the very off chance we reach the semi or final.

I think we'll lose tomorrow and I couldn't care less. The cup is an unwanted distraction that we have zero chance of winning.

I get more annoyed that I’ve ended up in a position of not caring than the actual not caring.
