Would have preferred Heaton or any goalkeeper who has experience of playing in the English leagues.

A bit risky to me, still I trust Smith.

McGinn hasn't done too bad. Stick your English leagues experience. You're not gonna get a goalkeeper of his quality for that money over here, and you're not gonna get the first choice goalkeeper for a team that just played in a World Cup Final for any money unless we can find £100 million to tempt Spurs to part with Lloris.

Is Pires our only previous World Cup finalist? I checked and Kalinic played against Iceland in the Group Stage so he definitely counts.

Fully expect McGinn to become our third World Cup finalist in 2022, and our second winner.

The top keepers in the world aren’t English. And we’ve had plenty of reallly good non English keepers in our history. Just because the current batch aren’t good enough doesn’t mean all foreign keepers are poor. And I’ve seen enough of Joe Hart fuck things up and Pickford in the Merseyside derby drop a bollock to know there’s no guarantees at all with any keeper you get irrespective of nationality.

I wanted Heaton as well.

But unless there was an option there for a permanent deal, such a move effectively only parks the issue for a few months.

We've probably done too much of that in recent seasons.  Loanees do sometimes develop an affinity for the club (as per Snodgrass last year) but more often than not they know they're not hanging around and act accordingly.

Think we’ve simply decided to not wait on Burnley to make up their minds about TH. last reports suggested they had not decided whether to let him go or not until they see how well Pope has recovered

Strange no official confirmation from Villa. I hope this doesn't turn into another Joe Bryan situation......?

Is his granddad Brazilian then?

Gent? Gent?
We bought some big lumbering idiot from Genk who we'd never heard of a few years back and look what happened there.

Same price too apparently.  He wasn't too shabby from what I recall.  We are acting quickly and will steamroller the division in the second half of the season.

I like a big keeper. Hopefully he will be more reliable than Nyland, who I have to say makes be shit myself every time a shot comes in. If he was half decent we would have about 8 more points at least right now and be right in the automatic mix. If this fella can come in and shore it up, we will see the benefits.

In fairness to Nyland, you can lay some blame on him but more often than not the defence has been dreadful.

I would have loved Heaton here, but if Kalinic signs I hope he's an upgrade on Nyland.
