Lovre Kalinic - Gone Gone
« on: December 19, 2018, 08:33:06 PM »
Seemingly on the verge of signing. We need a GK badly along with other defenders but hopefully this is a start.

Inevitably biased YouTube video included. Aside from being massive encouraging he catches the ball on occasion. That's a forward step.

Stevie Wonder, Isn’t he Lovre?

Maybe not.

Is he the one we wanted to sign when Garde was here (maybe not Garde, I can't be sure) but was refused a work permit for dodgy reasons?

Yes. Blocked by that nonce-defending director at Sunderland.

From the YouTube clip I just watched seems to like to palm it away a lot. Played in one World Cup game for Croatia but is now their first choice apparently. Got to be better than Nyland anyway.

I think Nyland has improved since the start of the season. It has been a number of games now since I last 'soiled my pants' whilst watching him keep goal.

One thing about Nyland is his distribution is really pretty good. I'd say the best of any Villa keeper since maybe Friedel or before. He still might turn into a good keeper in a couple of years, once he develops a bit of manly authority about him. For now his confidence is probably shot, and he needs replacing, but a loan out or a time on the bench is maybe the way to go with him.

I presume we're going for the 'he's going to be our first choice for years or until somebody pays stupid money for him' approach, because even only on loan I'd much rather bring Heaton in.

Thought this thread had been bumped up from three years ago for a second!

Which media is reporting this? Guess someone from our scout team was clearing a drawer and found his name.

He's done alright in Belgium I think.

Did he play in either game v England recently as their first choice retired after world cup.

I hope this signing isn't just a cynical ploy to cash in on the post-Brexit narrowing of horizons, particularly in regard to mass cultural participation. Hate Music, Lovrecism.

I must apologise.

He played at Wembley but not the away game.
