Sums up Bruce that Whelan takes the penalty as he is the most experienced player. Surely the best penalty taker should get the nod.
It was Whelan who wanted it, not Bruce's choice.
Didn't say it was Bruce's choice. When the manager consistently goes with experience as he has. It's no surprise that when Whelan goes to take a penalty it is accepted.

But i'm sure Whelan has been on the pitch before when we have had a penalty and he's not taken it. If Whelan has taken the ball off Bolasie which is what some people have suggested happened, then it's Whelan's fault.

This FFP business and paying him off.
If he is on a rolling 12 month contract and ssck him, doesn’t that mean we would pay him 12 months salary as compensation?
If things were going ok and he was still our manger for the next 12 months, wouldn’t we be paying him the same as a salary.

How are we breaching FFP by giving him in a lump sum, what we would be giving him anyway?

That said, why the fuck he deserves a payout for failing is another one of those football related mysteries.

The cost for Bruce is the same, but we'd also have to hire and pay a new manager.

How long does a cabbage take to grow? Perhaps it wasn’t sneaked in and was grown from a seed on the touchline?

Also strange behaviour from that lad who invaded the pitch to celebrate the opener..against Preston...on a Tuesday night, and then appeared to drop his trousers. Well worth a few years on the sex offenders register that.

That’s what happened. I don’t have a problem with Whelan taking responsibility, good on him, more of a problem with the manner he took it. Awful pen.

It's everyone's fault for not checking with the manager and his for not forcing his opinion.

I couldn't see who took the armband when Chester went off, who was it? Because surely that's also his job.

I’d rather have O’Leary back.

To be fair he never watches penalties.

Hutton captain, fuck sake. There's no direction from anyone at the club.

This is where the ownership need to show some, take the reins and make something happen.

I'm disappointed about the cabbage though, now it's on the Beeb and he's made a fuss about it, it's given the press and angle to be behind him and say it's fans playing up.  They'll be trotting out an ex-Blues angle before the end of tomorrow mark my words.

Whatever it takes to get rid of him. They can all blame me personally if it quickens his demise.

It's no laughing matter - cabbages can be quite heavy, especially when they've been thrown down from the height of the Director's box.

Sadly this side isn't going up even with a half competent manager. he's fucked up the defence, unbalanced the midfield and stuffed us full of loans. time to rebuild.

WBA are pretty crap at the back too but they have decided to just go for the we will score more than your approach ..attack is the best form of defence and thats how we need to play now ..untill Jan at least when we will have to sort out CB and possibly another keeper ...

while WBA may be below average defensively, they still have more than 1 and a half centre halves!. stats speak for themselves - we've let in 18. only preston have let in more

Before last night WBA had conceded 1 fewer goal than us. They also conceded twice v PNE with 11 men on Saturday. I agree with David Nab's point, our defence is poor so you tailor your gameplan around your attackers to score more and paper over the cracks, SB is simply incapable of this.

The word coward is chucked about far too much on here.  Some managers watch penalties, others don't.  It means fuck all.

Bruce may be doing a poor job and it's certainly time for a change, but there's no need to throw these sorts of insults at him.
