Does anyone know if the owners or the CEO were at the match?

Yes, sitting with Ian Taylor.
Thanks Walmley Villa

Bruce should have gone months ago.  We only have ourselves to blame.

My sentiments exactly Brian.

He stated after the Burton game that this would be a shadow of the team for the Sheff U match.... yep he got that spot on the bloke i a joke he has no idea at all..how do we spend most of the transfer week chasing a french CB only for it to fall through at last min so he decides to get a striker in ( not complaining about that) and totally ignore the CB prob..baffling

Isn't that our worst defeat since being relegated? Two years in nearly and he presides over that clusterfuck.

Spot on Brian - straight after the Wembley debacle - now we 're stuck with an inept defence until January - no chance of automatic promotion

He should have gone in May 2017. The writing was on the wall in big neon lights back then. Everything since has been highly predictable, much like today.

But that's not really true is it? It's the collective owners' fault for sticking with him. I know I'm splitting hairs at the use of 'we', but I actually think it bears pointing out - if it was down to a poll of all involved with the club, he'd surely be gone by now. Considering the last 2-3 years in isolation, it's only bad management from the top, and people who've allowed themselves to be duped by Bruce's "experience", which has us where we are today.

Outplayed, outrun and out thought. If you keep doing the same thing you'll keep getting the same outcome. Bruce is a nice bloke but there are no excuses for that performance, the manager is to blame.

I wanted him gone but with financial meltdown in play paying him compo probably wasn't top of Xia's list. Arguably first fault of the new owners keeping him on.

Interesting to see what Purslow does now.

Xia surely must be calling for his p45 after 2 years of this tedium?

Phew. Am I glad we didn't take a gamble on Henry otherwise we might have looked like a unprepared rabble........ Bruce should not have seen the end of last September as Villa manager let alone start this one. Do it NOW

Having said that, Bruce won a MOTM award last year and I was roundly chastised at the time for criticising him, saying that it meant nothing, and that we'd see in the months to come whether he deserved any plaudits or not. Here we are.

Sacking a manager a week before the season wouldn’t have been good. Sacking him on May 26th would have been correct, but Xia was too busy panicking.

We’ve only lost one game.

Win ratio of 33% in the league. Good enough?

Get rid now. Still plenty of time to for a new manager to work with. Although what do you do about the defence between now and January??

I guess the only crumb of comfort is that the owner(s) & CEO are no longer standing behind their chosen manager. I sincerely hope the new guys have already seen right through Bruce's BS and bring their own man in over the coming week.

Terry, Huth, or recall Elphick and hope for the best

Any of those would strengthen the defence we saw today.
