Do you watch them much?

Enough to know they play some decent football and I've seen us often enough to know that we rarely do.

They've been on TV twice since Boxing Day. You catch both those games?

Brentford shipped a late consolation goal against Rotherham and a comedy goal against Stoke so defensively they have shown concentration and lack of organisation , error prone issues .

Villa score headers and from set players despite our patent lack of creativity and chances created in open play I do feel villa will get chances to score .

Of course Brentford themselves capable of creating chances and maybe better chances from open play than villa tonight .
I take a 2-1 win.

Header from Jedinak and a Mcginn goal.

Yes.  And I watched them at VP the last two seasons, and there's highlights every week.  Enough to know they play some decent stuff despite regularly losing their better players.

They are undoubtedly our new bogey team in league football, the modern day Leicester City.

Why do we struggle so much against them? Just a bad match up in styles as we don't have as bad a record against other passing teams in this division e.g. Wolves last year. Or do we struggle to get up for things as "it's only Brentford." Dean Smith wanting to impress his future employers?

Don't see us winning on Wednesday so that could be 5 matches without a win v them, Wiped the floor against us twice at Griffin Park and should've won comfortably at VP last season.

Are we essentially asking too that a team that plays this philosophy of football and style of play in contrast to the general bruce style causing villa a major headache.

And also specifically Brentford and there style seemingly so far in championship matches have caused villa issues .

Are we looking several factors.
Taking Brentford for granted
Them raising their game performance
Dean Smith extra incentive factors

I do recognise Brentford as a nice footballing side but I feel Villa could (only could) overpower them and have capabilities to do so. For me I can't just say we will lose based on past experiences.

I also like the way Sheffield united play and think wilder like Smith have done a great job. Similarly Howe at Bournemouth.

Anyway to the point I think the struggle tends to then be the lack of ball possession perhaps and obviously lack of scoring and maybe then lack of creating chances

You took the same dismissive tone with anyone who suggested that Huddersfield looked decent two seasons ago, or that Cardiff could be promotion contenders last season.

Dismissive? Quite the opposite. I'm clarifying an opinion.

Well hopefully Ads I've now met your criteria for being allowed to have an opinion on Brentford.

Despite the draw and the dodgy bit when they got on top of us I think we kind of put this to bed last night, I thought Brentford were spectacularly poor for long periods.

Ah?

We tired from 70 minutes on, while they had a good 10 minutes from 75-85. We went ragged and then composed ourselves.

Yesterday to answer the question and main reason came down to the final ball as should have not only been leading when they scored first but even by half time.

The other reason on this occasion was the defense

Sorry I'm late on this but generally that was our best performance against them since we've been down here.

However there was one occasion in the second half when they did a simple thing which I wished we'd do.

Guy had throw in by the corner flag, threw it up to the striker on 18 yard line, first time lay off and the throw in guy had continued running so suddenly he was unmarked in the box.

We just about got it away for a corner but simple invention from a throw in that seems beyond us as we just throw it to the nearest standing player.

That was a case of Green being confused who is marker was. There were two instances of very poor lapses in concentration.

The centre halves out to be screaming directions.

Maybe but it was simply executed and gave them space in the box.

We should be capable of doing that with Jack able to find space with ease. Too often it's just wait for Hutton to trot over and he throws it to the nearest man.

I for one was extremely happy to see that our erstwhile tormentor and nemesis Ryan Woods, the Ginger Pirlo, was confined to barracks on the bench prior to his move to Sterk, where he is now having a medical.
