Be interesting to see if he's in the squad today.

On the bench

They pass and move between the lines

We didn't help ourselves in the two away games. I think we have an entire midfield their debut in the first year. And in the second year we inexplicably played Whelan and jedinak together against a really nimble quick passing team

I think we'll struggle on Wednesday. But our best chance is to have enough pace in defence and to try as we can to match their tenacity and passing in midfield

It’s the Championships fault.

Paul Mortimer on BBC today - sounding ominous with Jedi at centre back.
There has been some wonderful one and two-touch football from Brentford to move the ball and get in behind the defence.

It is a continental style of play.

It is difficult for the Wednesday to stop.

Brentford comfortably win 2-0.

They will pass and play us off the park on Wednesday. It will make a change to see some good football at VP though.

We struggled against Man City, Nicky Weaver on the sherbets apart, especially away from home. Sometimes a side just has the number on you, regardless of whether they're any good.

Let’s be honest there’s a complete Bermuda Triangle around Greater Manchester the number of times Villa teams have gone missing.

Absolutely.

I've seen 1 win at Old Trafford and then 3 wins at Man City in the best part of 30 years.

We're alright on Wigan, which is Greater Manchester. Apparently. A draw in Oldham in my only trip there and then some iffy results in Bolton.

But in the Cotton and Guns capital itself, crikey we're mince. Ok, I get Man United, but there's something in the water in that city.

Same for Newcastle. Utter bobbins.

Think it's 1 win in 13 years at Newcastle yet 10-20 miles down the road we always seem to win at Boro and Sunderland.

I think they play in-between the lines, into the gaps that Villa don't cover because we are very rigid.  The play nice football and are all comfortable on the ball.  To beat them we have to close down a lot quicker, match their movement, hope for good finishing when we get chances but above all work as hard as they do.  I think they have 11 players who are comfortable on the ball, they don't waste possession too often.  I doubt Dean Smith would find working with our team as easy as he does with his, as they are hand picked for their ability to play their way.  I'd very much like to see him try through.   Only a handful of our side would be comfortable playing their way at the current time.
"match their movement" Not a chance!  Jedinak is great in the air but how useful is that going to be against Brentfords passing game? He runs like he's carrying a wardrobe strapped to his back.

No doubt they will have a ready made replacement to slot in.
