Yeah, he's distinctive, he's awkward to play against - and like all good Scots, has a personality. Forrin' folk (i.e opposition supporters) are insecure about that.

I think McGinn is going to have a future in the game post his playing career. Always speaks well before and after games and as a player he usually makes good decisions within the game. Whether that's leaving one on an opposition player, winning a set pieces or a driving run. He's got an uncanny ability to know what a game needs and then goes and does it. Against Fulham in particular.

He's a great captain.

I'm struggling to think of a better Villa captain in my lifetime.

I agree with this. Whether its dragging the team out of this early season malaise, or dragging the team to the brink of an almighty comeback against the best team in Europe, or dragging the team through the play off final. 100% legend and without doubt in my all time Villa eleven. Love the man.

Against PSG in particular!

He was incredible that game… but for was surprisingly subbed off.

This club legend. What can I say, he's like what you would get if you combined James Milner and Gareth Barry - an unbelievable midfielder.

I fucking love him.

Every time I think the club’s outgrown him with our progress, or his decline is impending, he goes out and improves his levels™.

I just checked his appearances. His 300th appearance should be against Bournemouth , assuming the Uefa game the previous Thursday is off

Only 10 players have had more appearances since I've watched Villa

Legend.

Indeed, the countdown is on. The Fulham game took him level with Howard Spencer on 293 apps. Another 2 games will get him level with Peter Aldis. After the magical 300, the next milestone will be 302 apps – on par with Ugo/Little/Gary Williams. By the end of the season, with any luck, McGinn will be in the top 25 player appearances of all time. Stan Lynn is currently 25th with 324 apps.

I'm thirty-dd thousand posts ahead. However, the adage 'quality beats quantity' is rarely more apt.

Fortunately my days burying my nose for weeks in a Nielsen Report are long gone, they are however still the most accurate data out there. Viva the Nielson Reports! Not a single word wasted.

playing in CM brings the real leadership out of him - he's involved - playing in advanced positions where he's sometimes ahead of the play isn't the best way to utilise him. True legend, the best.
