Probably his best performance of the season for me. Outstanding.

Me too. Needs to be more like that more often. I think he'll have a great Euros

He’s now a established  Premier League midfielder. Best role for him is to play up as high as he can and snap at their heels.

Yes but he will have to carry his team mates most of time as some are League 1 standard.

Loved the way he gave Kane no nonsense with a 'tackle'. Penalised for the foul of course. I don't usually advocate that sort of physical behaviour ,as I'm more an artisan, but thought it was particularly noteworthy in basically letting know their star player Villa are here for a game!

If my Gran was still here, she'd have raised her eyebrow at you, mate! :)

No better example than the very late first half chance where he literally charged through Dire (correctly spelled) I think and won the ball for Bert who slipped in Ollie. Head down, single focus. They hated him all game.

He was a fucking beast last night, that Spuds midfield will need counselling.

He's a one-off, and his best is yet to come. I reckon every other team in the league would take him if they got the chance, including the c**t 6.

The last 3 or 4 games McGinn has started to look back to business. Like most of our players, he'll only get better.

After his injury he's had to play his way back to fitness which explains some of his less Super performances. Last night he owned the pitch. Not being played out of position has helped too. Thank you, Scotland.

The issue has been his 11 yellow cards this season
Just needs to watch the discipline.

Playing McGinn higher up the pitch means we have an extra layer of defence
Watkins closes down defenders for the whole 90 minutes never giving them a chance to settle
If they work their way round Watkins they then find McGinn chewing at their ankles
After McGinn they are faced with Marvellous/Dougie
And then it’s on to our back four
Not forgetting EMI

It requires huge levels of fitness from Watkins and McGinn but they seem to have that by the bucket load

McGinn gives us the energy boost that Milner used to provide.
