As it happens I am serious - and our best player up to Christmas was irrefutably Albert who had bagged a lot of goals to keep us in the running. Do you actually go to games? Johnstone was bang average - no better than Gollini - and his distribution was lamentable for a professional footballer. He was guaranteed to lose us possession every time he kicked the ball. Get real.

Johnstone was very good for us last season and was way better than Gollinni who if memory serves me right cost us a few points in those early games he played in. Oh and telling someome who has a differnet opinion to you to 'get real' is a bit naff really.

Really. I'm surprised Wiki have a page for him as he's played so few games. Benfica were sniffing around earlier this month but turned him down too. Most agree he has potential but certainly no where near ready for the first team.

Yes, this is what is on Wikipedia.

In August 2014, after impressing with the Portuguese under-19 team at the 2014 UEFA European Championship, Moreira was sold to Jorge Mendes' GestiFute and signed a six-year deal with Atlético Madrid.[1] He was immediately loaned to Primeira Liga side Moreirense FC,[2] making his professional debut on 28 December 2014 by starting in a 2–0 home win against F.C. Arouca for the season's Taça da Liga.[3]

Moreira's first and only cap for the under-21s occurred on 11 October 2016, in a 7–1 friendly routing of Liechtenstein.[12]

He let one in against Liechtenstein? 😲

No. Seven.

Johnstone was excellent last season throughout and the half season before after he'd settled in. My only critisism of him is choosing to join Olbyiun, he clearly needs advise with his life choices but there was very little to pick at with his goalkeeping. Pretty much a top half Premier League GK already.

Seems to be a picture doing the rounds of him in a Villa training top so assume it's done.

Very unusual this one, wonder why this hasn’t been announced? Maybe some forms need faxing.

I'm with mr u on this. After what we've had to watch over recent years, it's perhaps easier to be more one-eyed about our own players when they're anything better than, well, gash.

I made a comment a good while back that had we still been a PL side and we'd bought any of the players we've imported over the last couple of seasons, we'd have been risking our status. I still believe that.

Aye good luck. Don't try to trap and pass the ball in this division. Just hoof it up field and you'll be the first name on the teamsheet

especially if your hoofs find a player in Claret & Blue, unlike your predecessor.

He has made 35 first team appearances. 16 in the Portuguese version of the Championship and 19 in the Portuguese version of the Premier League.

That is why he joined Albion then, no PL teams interested!
Probably slightly above average championship goalkeeper, doesn't command his area at all and his kicking is pretty poor but shot shopping pretty good!
