Bryan Small Interview
« on: May 24, 2018, 06:54:01 PM »
I have the opportunity to interview Bryan next week. A sort of before/during/after the Villa article for H&V. Is there anything you would like me to ask him or would like to know?

Is Andrei Kanchelskis still in his pocket?

Nice guy Bryan Small. He was best mates with Dwight Yorke and Yorke lived next door to my female cousin in Shustoke for a while in his early Villa days when he lodged with an older couple. I used to see Yorke and Small in Rosie's in Solihull in the early nineties and I accompanied my cousin to Yorke's 21st birthday party which was held at Villa Park with all his team mates there. I was a last minute sub as my cousin had had a row with her boyfriend so I went with her in his place.

I have just remembered a summer Sunday night in The Sheldon pub in 1991 when Dwight Yorke and my cousin came along to meet up with a few of us. The fixtures had just come out and a couple of us were talking to him about the first game of the season and BFR's return to Sheffield Wednesday. He had no idea what we were talking about as he hadn't taken any notice of the fixtures coming out at that point!

Has Dwight done a book yet? Nine years at the Villa during pretty good times for us, would love to read about his thoughts and anecdotes from those times.

Bump. Scheduled for next week but trying to get it done earlier so it can be included in the next issue of H&V. Any more questions?

Toughest opponent, favourite player ever at Villa, looking back, would he do anything differently, does he feel miffed that the players these days seem to earn so much more than was available back then?
