I'm too old to wear a replica shirt. Does anyone know if its it just kits and training wear he's designing or are there polo shirts etc?

There are polo shirts, they look quite good and you will find them in the online store.

I think one of the issues here is that people are discussing matters of personal taste and preference as though they were matters of fact. I prefer a more traditional shirt with blue sleeves but I was talking to somebody yesterday who likes a bit of variety and thinks this one is great.

I am just hoping that we defy the odds next season and that in the future the shirt is remembered fondly as the one we wore when we got promoted.

Sure it's opinion but as Ive said elsewhere though Chris, for those who want "variety", there is the opportunity to do whatever you like with the away strip to cater for all tastes,  I really don't see the need to meddle with the traditional colours in the name of "variety".  Just a hunch but I'd hazard a guess that those not bothered by the blue sleeve thing are perhaps those who started supporting in the 80s or 90s when  mucking about with the kit had become common place.  That said there are those who get the hump when our away strip isn't plain white, and I've never seen the attachment to that.

We haven't, it's claret and blue. If it was claret and green i could get behind your cause.

I was first introduced to Villa as a kid in the late 70's, with the classic Umbro kit. Count me as one of those who isn't bothered by the occasional tweak of the home shirt as long as it's in the correct colours.

I was more offended by not playing in claret for the last god knows how many seasons personally. At least we've sorted that.

Yes we have.  Traditionally (well over 100 seasons) the sleeves are blue.  This one has hardly any blue worth mentioning.

Apart from 1969-70, 1983 - 87, 1993 - 95 & 2001-02,

Apart from eight seasons in the last hundred-odd. That sounds pretty traditional to me.

Slight confession though, despite my firm affinity with the blue sleeve model,  the 8 year old me absolutely loved the 1969-70 kit both home and away.   I went FKW on both.  I suppose because it was quite a novel design with the collars and triangle,  one which pretty much every team copied over the next few years.  It was the coolest strip around at the time and was also introduced when we were supposedly about to turn things around with the Doc in charge and there was a good vibe around the place for the first time in ages.  Sadly it didn't last long.

I loved the yellow and blue away strip - and it was made from thick cotton material :)

I don’t think there is any age bar or indeed a massively unfit bar. It’s like Prince ‘humorously racist’ Phillip being dressed in full military uniform at the age of whatever he is. Dignity? Well that’s another matter.

Also IT HASN’T GOT BLUE SLEEVES. Ahem, sorry.

This video might have to suffice until you can visit the club shop. I'm being dragged their tomorrow morning as the nephew wants BOTH

Mind you, i'm quite tempted myself despite being a fat bastard. I don't do polo shirts so it's home top or nothing. Well, unless i go for that bostin' claret jacket

I like the new home top. It reminds me of the 1983 home top which I always liked.

Same. It’s one I remember fondly too...a bit like my wedge haircut

I always associate the 1983 home top with Duran Duran's John Taylor.

It was all going well until this:

https://twitter.com/lukeroper/status/1019317814442815488?s=21

Modified names and numbers

https://www.luke1977.com/c/avfc-football-shirts/2.htm

I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It’s aimed at a specific demographic. I think it’s very smart to offer a service floor that for a younger generation of fans. The official kit and numbering will still be dictated by the EFL.
