Yes, its not a Villa kit.

Fine as a piece of Villa inspired training or leisure wear, but unfortunately it just contributes to the dilution of our once distinctive identity.

Really like both of them, look forward to seeing them with the shorts and socks.  Not bothered about the lack of blue sleeves, a change every now and then didn't do any harm. Sure they'll be back in 12 months.

I do get the clamour for the traditional blue sleeves, that would be my go to choice.

But with that said I still like the kit and am happy enough with a change now and then.  I also think from a sales point of view, they will have had an eye on the leisure market and may feel the all over colour is more suited to that?

55 quid. No idea how that compares with other teams’ shirts. The last Villa shirt I bought was the white Reebok one, over 20 years ago.

Love them both, 84 kit was one of my favourites. HYou can't have the same kit every year (when you need the money). White away kit always a plus too.

If you don't like it then don't buy it.

Any reason the Recon Sponsorship isn't on the back this season?

Website error - it's £50

Reduced to £50 when you order on the web site - The current England one is £65 but you can pick up for about £55 at Sports direct

The last season at Highbury they played in a replica of the kit they played in when they first moved there as a mark of respect, can’t recall any other changes. Ironically I thought I heard that Aresnals kit was based on the Villa kit and was the idea of Herbert Chapman, maybe an urban myth but I’ve told my Gooner son a million times so it better be true.

Both kits look very smart. Not having claret sleeves for one season is nothing to get upset about. We never did in the 57 final, 94 or 2000 to name a few and they were all proper Villa shirts.

The 57 shirts were change strips. We had them as an away kit the next season, not a home kit. The 94 and 2000 shirts were abominations.

Hence why I said final. It’s all down to personal preference. I grew up with that 90s team so have fond memories of those strips. Those who are a bit older remember the early 80s and want to play in replicas of those shirts until the end of time.

I first attended a game in 1988, so the nineties provide my happiest memories, too.

I'd still rather we had stuck to our traditional design, as I consider it part of our identity. Arsenal won't be ditching their white sleeves. Celtic won't be playing in all green. AC Milan won't be trotting out in red and black hoops.

People may well think it's a nice shirt. Maybe it is. It isn't a Villa shirt, though.
We have changed our shirt design more than most though - I just had a look through and its surprising how many times we have moved away from the standard template. I think the colours of claret and blue are more synonymous than the design.
I don't think it hurts for a season or two, I imagine a lot of the positivity is due to it being something different.

Not picking bones but haven't Arsenal dropped their white sleeves a couple of times? seem to remember Henry playing in an all claret kit for one season!

It's really not that hard, Home kit, Claret (thats Villa darker claret, Burnley have a similar claret but not the slightly florescent one West Ham wear) light blue sleeves, White shorts, light blue socks with claret and white trim.  Away kit ideally white shirt, light blue shorts and white or claret socks.  3rd kit do what you like.  Training kit do what you like.

Bingo.

Agreed. Which is exactly what i'm expecting to see on Monday morning.

See you’ve changed your tune then SLB.

I was expecting to see a claret and blue shirt. We now have a claret with a tiny bit of blue shirt. And it's absolutely gorgeous.

Not changed my tune at all.

Home shirt looks like one of those cheap knock offs of the 83-85 shirt you'd find abroad for a fiver. When he says inspired by he actually means he copied that design and just changed a couple of minor bits. Disappointing.

Lovely, correct shades of claret, but it should have blue sleeves.
