Graeme Dott lost to the singer from Echo and the Bunnymen. It's obviously a curse.

Dott was shit and does not deserve to have his name in the records.

If I remember right last year the screen betw the two tables had the winners listed and they left Dott off after his arrest

Oh really? I didn't notice that.
Yup…on the bbc as well

Interesting. I mean, he *did* win it, so you can't really expunge that.

They did with Lance Armstrong. Is taking loads of drugs really worse than being a massive nonce?

Not worse, just specifically related to the sporting achievement in question.

I'm not condemning them for it, I just think it's an interesting precedent.

19 year old Stan Moody has qualified for the championship, a day after discharging himself from hospital, where he had been suffering with tonsilitis. He becomes the first British teenager to qualify since 17 year old Judd Trump did in 2007, good luck to the lad.

Enjoying this "Judgement Day" broadcast from the qualifiers. It's a bit like NFL Redzone.

I'll even overlook the fact that it actually lasts two days.

Think it could be carnage again in the first round like last year with 5/6 seeds being blown away by these guys coming in match sharp from the qualifiers.

Hoping Brecel gets through qualifying tonight, such a great player to watch when he's arsed and his match against Bingyu the other day was one of the best I've seen all season.

Ali Carter can do one though.

Yeah, it has been great for the championship having the qualifiers just before the main event, and the early rounds really showcase the game's strength in depth. In the 80s and 90s you would look at maybe three or four potential winners, now you can make a case that about thirty different players could feasibly win it. Much more unpredictable and exciting.
