I saw this on ESPN's headlines with the caption: "Grealish winner gets royal seal of approval", and thought: Oh dang, John Carew!  He's considered football royalty now?"

Yeah, color me american.

I'll say it again, I love this.

How come he was there tonight? Any reason or did he just want to get behind his team?

I like William.

Because when Big John requests your prescence, it doesn't matter who you are, even the future king of England, you do as you're told.

Only skipped through the thread but:

It could have ended up anything up to and including 5-5. Some brilliant goalkeeping from Johnstone and some ropey shooting from us in good positions.

Jedinak was fucking majestic and Jack had them on the back foot time and time again, when we bought Kodja on the performance going forward should brighten any Villa fans heart as we looked a threat all the time.

Fair play to Cardiff, they compete hard for every ball and made it very difficult for us, there is nothing at all complicated about them but they caused us massive problems all night and could easily have run out winners

The result might not have mattered that much to us but matching them for heart and bollix just might come the play offs.

Great win - am I the only one thinking we're better at the pressure games than the mid table run of the mill ones?

Isn't Warnock doing an amateur pantomime villain act to make himself some kind of hate/media troll figure to take the pressure off the team who are efficient, physical but ultimately workmanlike?

Apart from Fulham I'd fancy us against anyone in the playoffs even with our recent inconsistent run.

Yes we seem to respond when VP isn't half dead as it tends to be for the low key midweek games like QPR.

I think that's why it's important we get the second leg at VP. Get a draw away and then we'd hopefully respond to a rocking VP and finish the job.

What a bloody horrible team Cardiff are to watch. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team take long throws ins in line with their own penalty area before but they did it all match. Dreadful stuff.

Not the size of crowd we were expecting but a good atmosphere I thought, get on the front foot, put in 100% effort and VP will get right behind you.

Other thing was that pass from Grabban to Houlihane was Sid like, the disguise on it was incredible. Absolute top notch, just as much as Jacks goal. Nearly.

Time for Grabben to start in front of Adomah and Kodjia to start up front.

Bree did well and ought to retain his place. BB for Whelan though if he's fit and Hourihane continues to be a problem.

I wasn’t impressed with Bree, or Axel when he was on.

Agree about Houirihane though, if only Onohah could show some of his earlier form we’d be well set.

I though Whelan was adequate.

As much of me thinks we are going to fuck this up as we are going getting a jammy win the playoff finals

I've been saying it for some time, it's great to once in while have a lucky manager. It's long overdue.

Whelan did his best (twice) to score an own goal in the first half - a wild swing and slice of the ball that hit Elmohamady on the line, then a 'header' that Sam saved superbly! What happened to Thor??

Rode our luck but the improved 2nd half with Kodja involved proved we had much more to offer. Jack yet again head and shoulders above anything else on the park. Cardiff are dull but good at dull and effective. Stoke in disguise in fact.

Drop Hourihane for whoever for the remaining games and play Kodja with Grabban up top has to be the way forward.

I thought Bree was okayish. Johnson, his kicking apart, excellent.

Agree with all of that PROVIDING we build on it.

Let's finish the season with aplomb.
