It turned out to be an excellent day for the Bears with Patel taking 4-38 off 18 overs. Middlesex had a mini collapse from 152-2 to 183-6 in 12 overs and they lead by 143. It’s an important first session tomorrow where we need to clean up their tail pretty fast.

Sussex and Leicestershire have both won inside two days and have closed the gap at the top. It’s getting quite tight up there.

If we win it starts to look like 3 teams playing for 2nd place, I hope we don't fuck this up.

On Patel, I said after he lost his wicket that I thought he might be getting a bit excited to bowl on it, I'm really not surprised he did so well, it looks like a dream wicket for a spinner.

Root took four wickets for five runs including the wicket of Buttler as Yorkshire beat Lancashire. Good job he can bowl.

Good to have proper cricket back.

What a game! It had everything bar a century and finished in a little over 2 days.

There's been some great championship matches over the last two or three years, don't understand why they continue to mess about with the fixtures to accommodate so many pointless one day matches, apart from money of course! Anyway, well played to whoever is in charge of the Yorkshire Twitter account for their reply to a post from Lancashire after the hit and run match!

Bears are making hard work of the lower order again, they could've got Middlesex for 350 in total with a bit more of a plan for the tail.

Sibley has been rank most of the season. When you think that we effectively swapped him for Rikki Clarke it does not seem wise.Young of course, and talented no doubt.
