I think we'll get a bit of a lead but not much, the pitch looks like a 250-300 surface to me and I suspect we'll end up somewhere in that area. I hope Rhodes gets his ton, he's played really well and deserves his reward.
The last few overs we seem to have decided to nurdle them about for a bit, which is probably the right approach for now.

Rhodes and Sibley get some stick down at Edgbaston amongst some of the members, i don't fully understand the negative comments in particularly
around Rhodes, i can't give him a huge rating but this is probably his first full season in the Championship and he has got his first championship century.
This game is only his 27th First class match.....i for one think he has a decent future with Bears particularly in red ball cricket
Currently 226/7
Rhodes 79*
Patel 12*
So 10 behind.
Could have done better.....i didn't see the Wright wicket but apparently he walked with the umpire showing no intent on giving him out.
Woakes i did see....strangled down his leg...he wasn't happy.
Patel just gone.....LBW 14.....looked out
228/8
Patel moaning he gloved it....not sure

Wright looked out to me so no issue with him walking.
Woakes will be upset with himself but, to me, he looks like he's come back a week or 2 too soon, probably trying to prove himself before the England games, his bowling was ropey as well.
Anyway, 238-8 so a small lead that we need to build on, hopefully we can add 20-30 (so Rhodes gets his 100). Doesn't sound like a lot but any lead on this pitch could prove pretty valuable.
I think Jeets might be getting a bit excited about having a bowl though, it looks perfect for him.

Rhodes deserves a century, he has underpinned the innings.
Ironic that Poysden didn’t get a bowl for Yorkshire but managed their second highest score.

The good thing from the last half hour or so is that we've pushed on to be within touching distance of the 2nd bonus point.
With Kent in trouble this is a great opportunity for us to stretch the lead out in the table.

but next ball sees Rhodes take a 4 to get us the 2nd batting point and he's now moved on to 99.

It turned out to be an excellent day for the Bears with Patel taking 4-38 off 18 overs. Middlesex had a mini collapse from 152-2 to 183-6 in 12 overs and they lead by 143. It’s an important first session tomorrow where we need to clean up their tail pretty fast.
Sussex and Leicestershire have both won inside two days and have closed the gap at the top. It’s getting quite tight up there.

Hopefully a crucial last half an hour today. Might try to sneak watching a bit of tomorrow's play while I'm supposed to be "working".
