Have to say I don't think the crowd help the team at all. We only sing when we've just scored a goal. At other points it's silent and there is very little encouragement and nothing to drive the team on. It's a two way street, the team are winning and we're on the cusp of 2nd place, it's about time the crowd started giving something back.

It's a difficult one really. Burton are a team we have no excuse not to beat so when a goal goes in it's expected. A goal against them does not rouse the same intensity of emotions as the last minute goal against Sheffield United the other day. I suspect the crowd next week will be up to everybody's standards.

Will there be a home match when the weather isn't shite?

Great goals, shame about the lapses at the back, maybe we switched off thinking the job was done.

When they pay me to be there I'll "start giving something back".

The AVFC official coverage of the game shows the penalty claim and it looks stick on to me. Unbelievable that it was not only denied but he was booked for it!

At that point we could have been 3-0 up and then maybe Burton would have folded and given us the result we thought we could expect.

I also had a bit of a look at Burton's other results to clarify whether we really should have expected a hatful. Other than us and Wolves both putting 4 past them in a week last September, and the recent pasting by Fulham, their results against the teams around us have been much of a muchness. Cardiff actually managed to lose 2-1 to them at home in August, and Fulham lost to them in September. Derby only beat them 1-0 in December, and Bristol only managed a goalless draw when they played them. So a one goal win, especially when they were so ably assisted by the ref and linesman throughout, probably isn't particularly indicative of any major shortcomings as we might think.

Just saw the (non) pen decision and it was blatant, but putting that to one side, the passing and skill in the run up to foul was a delight, and it wasn’t a one off either, we played some fantastic one touch football yesterday and it mainly comes through Grealish.

Yes, the Grealish incident is at almost exactly the 68th minute in the match.  It was an absolutely disgraceful decision, and ended a lovely bit of play from Villa, which started with patient build up from the back, and ended with some lovely interplay between Grealish and Onomah.  You can see that their defender moves from the contact.  It's as clear and obvious a penalty as you'll ever see.  I hope the ref gets to sit out a game or two because of it.

I had given up getting on my feet and giving officials the full blast a long while ago but yesterday it had to bd done on the Jack pen/booking incident. It was a #%**%> incredible piece of refereeing.

It's a bit of bad luck for Elmohamady. The way the ball came back at him he couldn't control it or aim where he was clearing it. All he could do was hit it and hope for the best, which turned out to be a bit unfortunate.
