That OG from Elmo is as bad as it gets

Some nice goals, great for Grealish to get off the mark. No doubt he will be targeted for the full 90 mins next Sunday. It was clear from last Tuesday and on reports here from today, that a  number of our players are flagging badly at the moment. Elmo, Hourihane, AA to mention three. I don't buy the whole you can't change a winning team mantra. If Burton at home isn't the time to give the likes of Green and O'Hare game time then when is. Our bench today was ridiculous.

Huge selection next Sunday. I think Jedinak will need to come in maybe next to BB, Houihane's form is a worry.

Some of the best passing by a Villa player today was from Mr Terry. Outstanding for a centre back - at one point he threaded a throughball to Adomah that Glenn Hoddle would have been proud of.

Err...The 40 yard pass by Snodgrass to put Adomah through was brilliant regardless of calibre of opposition. Accuracy vision and execution was perfect.

You can only beat whats in front of you. Today it was Burton and we beat them. Doesnt matter how you do it, most goals you score need to be fairly well worked. When Fulham beat Burton 6-0 the other week their supporters  were probably all cooing over their play and taking nothing away from their performance just because it was Burton.

Our first goal was like that one under BFR when we had God knows how many passes and 10 of our players were involved (was it against Wednesday?). That was football at its finest. The own goal was about the worst I've ever seen and Burton's second was a beaut. All told, some good moments, some panics, and exactly what football should be. Can we have that (including the final score) every week please. I swear I'd never tire of it and have already forgotten every dull or dire moment in between the funny and fantastic.

Something else great about today - Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi at half time. Made the day memorable in its own right.

Best passing goal we've scored was the tica-taca 30 pass monster at Boro on New Years Day 1996. Super Tommy Johnson's goal isn't remembered mind as Wright biffed in that wonder volley.

Just watched our first goal again and it was better than I remember. Superb goal.

You don’t buy the mantra of keeping the same team that’s won matches in a row? Most bizarre comment of the day I reckon. If a team keeps winning, why on earth would you change it?

Another good one was Hendrie at Chelsea in 1997 - it features in the Crazy Train montage before kick off. And i was always fond of Draper vs Man United 1995 opening day, back to front counter attacking goal. And now i remember, Yorke vs Ipswich 1993. In fact, theres loads!

There was nothing wrong with the way Burton set up for our first, it was just brilliant attacking play. Enjoy it for what it was. God I love this game when the unexpected and brilliant happens.
