As I mentioned earlier, many Villa fans would gleefully bedeck the bars/streets/stadiums of other countries with the England/Union flag were we to have a game abroad. And would be mightily miffed if told it was unacceptable. I don't see how Tony's flag is any different.*

But you make the point succinctly - Britain's human rights abuse is indeed previous whereas China's is current.

The UK is clearly a country that takes human rights seriously and cannot be compared with China. However...

One would hope that China moves on and abandons its more unsavoury practices, just as we did.

There was a stars and stripes over Villa Park in Randy's tenure. No idea if it was there all the time but I remember being more than a bit uneasy about it. That was because flags/colours bother me to a degree. I won't go into the full reasons why as they are ill-thought out, contradictory and invite some typical responses. That said, I'm not overly happy with being reminded the club is the sole preserve of one man. The flag is just a representation of that to me, but if everything is fine on and off the pitch I don't let it bother me in the slightest.
