Quote from: XXVilla on November 25, 2017, 02:35:32 PMI’ve just noticed the national flag of China is flying over the HDE Stand. Anyone else uncomfortable with this?May be you should look properly next time you are at VP as it's been there a long time and I don't think anybody should be "uncomfortable" with that. Our owner is from China and proudly displays his heritage and I welcome it. If you also care to look around the City you will fine most multi-national businesses display the flag of their origin and that's great.

There are already Villa flags flying on the stand. I'm sure there was an American flag on there when Lerner was in charge. The British Empire has a fairly dubious record, particularly with regard to China. Nobody cares about the Union Jack on there, though. Only mentallists from backwards countries like North Korea, Northern Ireland and America care about flags.
I'd imagine he thinks that it'll help spread the name of Aston Villa in China while also promoting his business interests in the UK. Good luck to him on both fronts.
It's sad to be saying this, but since any nation's flag has the capacity to offend at least someone, perhaps it is for the best if none are flown.
As I mentioned earlier, many Villa fans would gleefully bedeck the bars/streets/stadiums of other countries with the England/Union flag were we to have a game abroad. And would be mightily miffed if told it was unacceptable. I don't see how Tony's flag is any different.**Please don't come back with China's human rights record. The British have plenty of previous in this department.
