Oasis are northern wankers. We need song from black sabbath.

You're a nose on a wind up aren't you?

Change the record pal, it's getting boring now.
noses rob handbags off the ramp

I have no idea if that's true but I do like the line, it's very lyrical.  So much so that it works very nicely in a tune we all know...

"Nose lying in wait
Deciding your fate as you're walking on by
Beware where you tramp
Cos noses rob your handbags from off the ramp"

A blue nose at work commented on this. He said we are pathetic singing along to DLBIA as they are mancs and we can't come up with anything original to compare to keep right on. Blissfully unaware or too stupid to know that is a Scottish folk song by Harry Lauder with no fucking connection to SHA other than a jock who once played for them sang it on a bus and it caught on with the fans. He's not blissfully unaware anymore but he is still stupid.

Also - there is really no need to worry what a nose thinks of a song we have picked up on. We can all think of the established anthems of Liverpool, West Ham and the Blues and how they galvanise their support, but we'll still sing 'You'll never work again', 'Stick your bubbles up your a**e' & 'wipe that snot off the end of your nose' back at them.
Other sets of suporters taking the  piss has never been a reason to drop a song as far as I can remember.

Fair enough we will rock you has nothing to do with villa, but queen weren't associated with a team. I'd rather have that back, we used to sing we will fuck you to the away fans.

I don’t get hating Oasis just because they are linked with Man City. I get it if you don’t like them as a band or don’t like their songs. That’s personal taste. But disliking them backseat the lead singer is from a certain area or supports a certain club is like saying you hate the Beatles because they’re from Liverpool or the Stones because Jagger supports Arsenal. Who cares?

This song specifically has become something of a rallying cry for the fans and I’m just happy that after man years of seeing utter shit down Villa Park people are bonding again and have lots to smile and sing about.

Aye. And on the whole Man Citeh thing, they have rarely been a direct rival for us in my liftetime. Either because we were so far ahead of them, or like now they are (sadly) so far ahead of us.

With a few exceptions, their fans always struck me as decent sorts and not dissimilar to Villa when it came to the gallows humour. Unlike Everton (bitter B-lose part 2), Newcastle (delusional) or Tottingham (just cxnts).  So if anyone had to win the Billionaire lotto other than Villa, I'm glad it was them.

You've just experienced nose humour in all it's splendor. To think that he actually took the time and effort to sign up here just to post that drivel? Bless.

The Bells are ringing used to get sung a lot at away games - one game at Maine Road back in the day we sang it for about 10  minutes straight
I am Sure we were one of the first clubs to pick up on "Always look on the bright side of life - which Man City then picked up on
My memory might be playing tricks on me but didn't we used to sing " Mull of Kintyre ?"
Anyone remember the thousands of balloons released at a game at the Baseball Ground ? - I am sure we sang Mull of Kintyre at that game
The lads I used to travel to away games used to sing left field stuff in the boozers - eg The TCP advert - " if you've a troublesome sore throat, be sure to wear a hat and coat .......take TCP and gargle every day .....
And the Beer at Home means Davenports advert
None of this Oasis or Black Sabbath nonsense
SIGH .....Oh Times were much simpler then
Yes I know , they used to send kids up chimneys then :)

The TCP song was sung for a few years late 70s at games. I remember it changing to: "We're the ones that go away. Go away on Saturday" in the 80s until it really found it's niche as a tune with the words changed to: "There's a circus in the town.."

Don't think it's suitable for an after match celebratory song though.

Mind you, I can just picture John Terry running up to the Holte, fists clenched and punching the air to a backdrop of: "Take TCP and gargle every day - Until the soreness goes away (goes away)"

With that sentence you have proved beyond all doubt that your from these parts. That sentence would make no sense whatsoever to anyone else
your not north Birmingham as you would know how blues fans used to Rob hand bags of women on the ramp in the 80s.
I was having the crack with you mate. And no I'm not from north Brum I'm from B7.

Probably a musical preference thing, but apart from "don't look back in anger", I don't know the words of the first or last lines? Embarrassed at 50.
