I'm pretty sure even Noel Gallagher has admitted in the past that his lyrics are nonsense, words being chosen simply because they rhyme.

I hope this is true, because the alternative possibility, that he actually thinks he has applied some rational creative thought process to them, is even scarier.

That Twang song is so boring, I think I may now be typing in my sleep. For years and years this debate's been had on here. Now the fans at the games have actually embraced a song, why not leave it at that? Forget the Manc connection: Don't Look Back in Anger has become like Hey Jude; it belongs to the public now.
What you mean keep a song that was spontaneously taken up by fans and has real meaning and resonance to our current situation rather than contrive to shoe horn in a song because a bloke on an internet forum prefers it?
Er... Yes?

Nah, it'll never catch on.

I note with interest that my original suggestion of Freiheit hasn’t particularly received universal support.  Therefore I’m switching my suggestion to Glen Madeiros- Nothings Gonna Change My Love For You.

Great suggestion, can we put it to the vote?

Keep it. It was spontaneous, which is usually better than something planned.

Great song as well (in my opinion) - always reminds me of listening to it played at Wembley just before the 1996 League Cup Final kicked off.

That was "Roll With It" pal. That's what the teams came out too.

I'm sure we've all sung that under our breath to Steve Bruce.

I think it's absolutely fine.  It was a spontaneous moment that perfectly reflected a moment in time and has evolved from there.  I'd much prefer this to a contrived "wouldn't xyz be great (typically insert here some heavy metal bollocks maybe with a midlands connection), lets have a poll."

The fans spoke by getting behind the song.  In my view it remains perfectly relevant and we should keep it until we are promoted, at least.

This. 100% agree.

As someone who doesn't sit on the Holte End but as someone who was at Reading that night when DLBIA surfaced purely because Reading PA put it on,
the emotion that shone through in those 3/4 minutes was something to behold. An amazing moment, that you had to be there to appreciate it...i shed
tears of joy in those few minutes....so a massive YES from me keep it.

Is that why it surfaced?  Because it was played on the PA at Reading?!

I'm a fan of Oasis but I cringe every time it gets played at the Villa.  It's got fuck all relevance to us or the city and the sooner it goes the better.

So an anthem has to have a relevance to the club and city.  What relevance does Tom Jones have to Stoke?

None and that's fucking embarrassing too!

Pretty impressive when all their fans sign it though.

When it was played and had the fans singing DLBIA when we beat Blues last season it was extremely impressive I enjoy watching back the videos of it. It's a shame you find such thing embarrassing.

Gillingham's song is 'The Last Waltz' by Englebert Humperdink and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the town. It's probably just an anthem they've adopted, sometimes that's how it happens, the same with Deliah with Stoke. It's all very harmless really.

I understand why fans are divided over this song but does it really matter. It will not be played once it has run it course. Is it really that important. When we win, it's played at the end of the match and some fans enjoy singing or listening to it others don't so what? It won't last forever but for the fans that travelled to Reading, that night, it is significant and the memory could last forever. I enjoy listening to it at the end of the match, because it means we have won, so as far as I'm concerned I hope they play it for evermore!

Watch from around 1:30, I thought it sounded anthemic blasting out from the Holte.

I seem to remember quite a few fans being involved with Rongtian Ho on Twitter asking for Villa to play this to recreate that 'Reading game' feeling. I guess if enough people feel the same, it will happen. It has happened with Don't Look Back In Anger and I think regardless of where the song comes from or what it may or may not mean, it's taken on a Villa tint.

It is just so recognisably a Manc anthem though.  It is strongly associated with Manchester, and the band who sings it have a connection with Manchester City.  It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things I suppose, but I have heard a couple of non-Villa supporting mates question why we sing it, for similar reasons to those.
