It's a great song but if you're looking for something with a Villa or Birmingham connection that fits the occasion and everyone knows then it's gong to be a struggle.
We could all dance out of the ground to some singalong Ska - Enjoy Yourself by Prince Buster, Monkey Man by The Maytalls, You Can Get It If You Really Want, either version.

What fans spoke? I don't remember being consulted.
The 10,000 or so who sang along with it.

Are you always consulted when new songs get momentum on the Holt?

No, why would I be? You're the one who suggested that the fans decided, noone has ever decided on any song which is played over the tannoy, to my knowledge.

I've no idea why someone has chosen to impose this one on everyone.

It's a Man City song, it's embarrassing. Manchester is our rival city. We could do without adding to their vastly-inflated cultural mythos.
I did enjoy the rendition at the end of the Small Heath game at Villa Park last season it even got a mention on German TV! But on the whole I agree with your take on it being a manc song from a manc band who are big man city supporters. The best I can come up with is, The day we caught the train by OCS. Brummie band with a big villa connection. Wouldn't mind hearing that blasting from the tannoy.

On second thoughts, stick with Oasis...
Why? It's a great tune.

It's absolute shite.

You'll be suggesting Coldplay next.

How about white noise? That would definitely upset the opposition...

On the other hand, it'd probably just infuriate everyone.

The Ocean Duller (clever,eh?) Scene song has always reminded me of “The Day We Went To Bangor” by Fiddlers Dram, only not as good.

Edit. Think it is their other ‘hit’ I’m thinking of, meat and two veg indie rock all blurs into one.

That Twang song is so boring, I think I may now be typing in my sleep. For years and years this debate's been had on here. Now the fans at the games have actually embraced a song, why not leave it at that? Forget the Manc connection: Don't Look Back in Anger has become like Hey Jude; it belongs to the public now.

What you mean keep a song that was spontaneously taken up by fans and has real meaning and resonance to our current situation rather than contrive to shoe horn in a song because a bloke on an internet forum prefers it?

Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don't you know you might find
A better place to play?
You said that you'd never been
But all the things that you've seen
They slowly fade away

So I'll start a revolution from my bed
Cause you said the brains I had went to my head
Step outside, summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

And so, Sally can wait
She knows it's too late as we're walking on by
Her soul slides away
But don't look back in anger
I heard you say

Take me to the place where you go
Where nobody knows if it's night or day
But please don't put your life in the hands
Of a Rock 'n' Roll band
Who'll throw it all away

It's almost like it was written specifically for the Villa's current situation!

PS I'm pretty sure even Noel Gallagher has admitted in the past that his lyrics are nonsense, words being chosen simply because they rhyme.

It was the don't look back in anger line that was relevant and picked up by the fans.  I would have thought that was obvious even for the hard of thinking.
