He was praised for giving the kids and fringe players a run in the last round.  Now we lose it's a stupid selection policy?
In the last round we played a lower division team. Team selected tonight was much weaker against a good team at our level.

Barnsley as expected was a fucking mirage. Our reserves vs theirs. We shit the bed at home.

It may have been a mirage

But surely tonight isn't the proof of that!

I never trusted the attendance figures under Doug.

3 minutes ET

No memory of last week.
No help to SB and I wanted it. Out of the Cup.
I really hope he has something special ready for the weekend v Forest.

I never trusted the attendance figures under Doug.

You only had to be in the ground to know there were less than 10K. 4600 looks like 4600.

Agree PWS, I was hinting at the legend that cannot be repeated, at least not in HDE's lifetime.

Lets not go all blues like and start making up reasons for the gate being shit.
I've heard some great ones over the years from the rags

By my reckoning, last time we had a crowd this low was v Forest in the ZDS in Nov 1991. 7,859. We had 12,433 in the LC 2nd round v Wigan in 1993.

God I think I remember that game 😐

Was that Forest game really, really, really cold??

I reckon I was at both of them. Couldn't be arsed tonight though, so I can't say "I was there when we lost to Middlesbrough in front of 11,000" when some glory-hunting part-timer is begging me to get him a ticket to Villa v Barcelona in a few years' time.

I was there tonight one of the unfortunate 11,000 souls to have witnessed the most lethargic, clueless performances in living memory at the once proud old stadium. Thanks for that Steve Bruce. I'll refrain from calling you a footballing dinosaur so as not to hurt your feelings and antagonise your son.

I'm a bit disappointed not to get at least one HMHB response
