By the way - for those like me who normally go M5/M6/Expressway travel's likely to be a pain - roadworks on the M5 between Jnc 1&2 and the Expressway will be shut.

Coming north up the M5, I normally get off at J1 and come in via the Hawthorns and Handsworth Wood. I'll probably just give myself even more time than usual and check out how bad the delays are at Oldbury.

My alternative is getting off at J3 and then cutting across past City Hospital / Prison and on over towards the Bartons

Johnstone is injured isn't he and not sure Elmo will be fit either after coming off at the weekend.  Presuming Johnstone won't make it and Elmo will, I think it will be the same team as Saturday apart from Hogan replacing the injured Grealish.

If Elmo isn't it fit, then I think Bacuna or Bree will start on the right with Green on the left. or Green will shift to the right with Bjarnason on the left.

Interesting stat...we haven't played a first game at home since the 2010/11 season which we won 3-0 against West Ham. I went for a draw but tempted to go for a win and a good start to the season.

1-0 or Maybe 0-0

I reckon he'll go:

Johnstone / Steer

Hutton Chester Terry Taylor (nailed on this is our defence)

Bacuna Whelan (Bacuna looked sharp whereas hourihane hasn't)

Elmo Lansbury Green

Gabby

But personally I'd sacrifice the number 10 for Hogan and put Lansbury alongside Whelan for this game, even if it means ceding a bit of possession. A MoN style 442

Hull have sold Elmo Davies Maguire and Robertson this summer - a whole back four. Let's get at that defence

A cautious 1-1.

Anyone got a link to a few of Hull's pre season games as I genuinely have no idea who's still there from end of last season and the make up of their squad so would like to have a check at what might be their likely line up.

Despite everything that we have been through over the last few years I'm chuffed to bits that the Villa are playing again on Sat. It's been a long summer of minor interest in minor sports, and that swimming thing seemed to go on forever.

Anyway, 1-1.

Can see that Matt and agree about Hogan, though he might come off the bench to replace Gabby when he is inevitably gassed out.

Dawson, Grosicki, Hernandez, Clucas and McGregor are the ones that jump out as players from last year. Grosicki who I seem to remember did particularly well for them.

Aina on loan from Chelsea at full-back and Frazier Campbell (who will probably be pretty decent at this level) are the main additions I think.

They've drawn against Ajax 3-3, Nantes 0-0 and beat Benfica 1-0 in their last 3.
