Have to agree a cracking game. Thought Galway were going to walk it the way they started.

They would have won had the referee had the same concept of time as the rest of us in the none GAA rest of the world.

Not openly.  Supposedly all- amateur.  I think I read somewhere recently that the non-profit making GAA had an €80 million profit last year.  I can't provide a link as I can't remember where I saw it.

Players dont recieve cash up front. The higher profile players receive sponsored cars and get a few quid for opening shops and attending presentation evenings. The very high profile get sponsorship money but we are talking about a handful of players. I would imagine a good few of the Dublin players have GAA related jobs that would not be terribly onerous but not terribly well paid either.
Dublin will no doubt beat Tyrone in the football and we will just have to hope that Galway and Limerick serve up a good hurling final

This is the new GAA calendar. The finals will be taking place earlier than in previous years. I think the Popes visit has pushed things a bit further forward this year
As for Tyrone beating the Dubs....Cant see it happening

Thanks that makes sense, re Popes visit. I think you are right about Dublin v Tyrone, but Up Tyrone!

Hope Sunday is a good game, 1973 is a long time waiting for Limerick

Hurling is miles ahead of the football in terms of entertainment at the moment. And I think i can say that without fear of being accused of bias on account of being from galway!

Does any one know of any pubs in Birmingham that show GAA games? A friend wants to watch Mayo vs Kerry game after the Boro game on Saturday.

Our son's former secondary school won the All Ireland Gaelic Football  level 'B' final for the first time in their history today at Croke Park.  The last, and only time as far as I know, they contested it was in 1997 when our lad was a member of the squad and they lost.  Well done Roscommon CBS you did your school, families and most importantly yourselves proud.
