Not bad for 13 quid, mind.

All four teams involved in the tournament were sponsored by betting companies.
Just thought I would mention it.
Turrar

Blimey, what were the odds on that?
Evens

Odds on would be a better bet.

I particularly liked his second against Duisberg as he had a bit to do to get goal side of their defender

He really, really didn't.  I played my entire Sunday football career in defence and I'd be embarrassed at how badly that defender misjudged the ball.

Yep - four of the five goals we scored involved shocking defending, which should temper our excitement a bit (though still great to get 5 in 90 minutes and we definitely looked more dangerous full stop).

According to Fotmob we are at Tamworth on Friday. I can't imagine we will put out a very strong team with Watford scheduled for Saturday.

Confirmed by Tamworth as a "Aston Villa XI" so the U-23's basically.

Awful positioning. The defending for Gabby's goal was terrible too. We'll be lucky if teams defend like that against us next season.

Do Tamworth have a team? Are you sure you're not confusing them with Drayton Manor Theme Park XI?

I've just seen we've sold 5k tickets for the SGT game. Is that right?

Yes - tickets haven't been on sale for long and it is main holiday season. We will have done well to get to 10k.

The game being on you tube won't help. It would be nice to see a decent crowd down there to remember in our own way such a bloody good manager.

It's really stupid putting this on YouTube. Hopefully they will reconsider.

I agree. The fact that proceeds from the game are going to charity as well, it is a strange decision.

Its a friendly. If you're put off going because it's on youtube you weren't going to go anyway.

£15 a ticket for a friendly and live on Youtube isn't going to encourage a big turnout. The club don't seem to be pushing it much and as all the upper tiers are closed they obviously figured it was going to be a low crowd.

Part of the issue is that Graham Taylor managed us 30 years ago. For fans of my age we remember that period quite clearly. But his significance won't resonate with literally generations of fans since who will never appreciate who he was, what he meant to us, what he meant to football in this area and to the game of football in general.
