There's seemed to be much more attacking purpose today, long may it continue. Good to see Elmo and Grealish taking players on. Great finishing from Hogan some promising performances from the kids.

I actually thought Gabby may have committed a foul for his goal but the fact he was getting stuck in was a positive. I suppose. He's gonna earn himself a new bloody contract isn't he?

Nothing wrong with that goal. Their players spent the whole game collapsing to the floor, so bollocks to them.

Overall reflections:

1. I really REALLY enjoyed watching it. Five goals in 90 minutes and some v good performances

2. Standouts for me:

- defence looked strong, especially Terry and samba
- Doyle-Hoyes and to lesser extent Green and O'Hare (McKirdy struggled for most the game)
- could see pattern emerging, more penetration, more pace

3. Must bear in mind that Duisburg were shocking at the backfor all three goals and the ref did us a favour for Gabby's.

4. We looked much better with our forwards running in behind - but remains to be seen how well we do when teams play deep (we struggled v Walsall here)

5. Elmohamady was very good - albeit against a weak team. Grealish played quite well and nearly scored, but was a bit sloppy on occasion. If we play this formation that 10 position is key.

6. But overall feeling much more positive now. Even though doesn't really count for much

The trophy was a bit naff. It was the kind of thing Jossy's Giants would have won.

Christ, are you never satisfied.

The trophy design is horrific. We're all tickled pink that we are champions of something this weekend.

Maybe we could go back to the years of being 'Champions Of Europe' and the old Le Coq Sportif kit with the badge in the middle and under it the words 'Champions Of Something'.
