I agree - it's a step up on the last match so far

Hourihane and Lansbury passing it a bit more smartly (though I don't think Lansbury can play this deep role against a good team he's not good enough defensively)

Thor has good movemet but often a sloppy first touch. Gabby the same without good movement. Still think this xi looks blunt. I'd have grealish for Thor, adomah for amavi and obviously Kodjia for gabby

No watching it but from the line up guessing we are playing 3 in midfield.  How is it set up in there?

There was just a passage of play when we seemed determined to give it away just outside our own box.

I'm pretty sure that for the past 7 or so years every single team we've played has looked more comfortable controlling and passing the ball than us.

Get hogan on - I reckon we'll make him some chances today

Would also prefer McCormack to Thor in the hole. He can run but he doesn't seem able to do much useful with the actual ball!

Being able to run gives him a big advantage over McCormack though.

Indeed and Walsall lost to Solihull Moors on Saturday.  They were bound to play better against inferior opposition.

I shouldn't laugh. Maybe someone should suggest this "running" thing to Ross and see what his reaction is.

This formation is missing a defensive midfielder - it's allowing Walsall to break quickly when the 3 central players have pushed forward.

Gabby offers little and clearly Chester should start showed of samba. Green looks a real threat but they've clearly identified that and have doubled up on him

Green is playing well again, Bree is not having his best day defensively.

Green looks Grealish-esque in that he seems to get trapped with the ball. He's doesn't have a special move to get him out of tight spaces.

The encouraging thing is there have been chances. The disappointment is that none of them have been really served up to the main forward. That's of course partly down to Gabby but we are still lacking creativity to get into the box and just get shots away.

Disagree, thought Gabby did ok that half. Certainly more involved than Hogan ever is

Yeah, there's a big gaping hole where a holding midfielder should be to protect the back four. Overall, ok though. Terry and Bjarnnasson our best two I think.
