Our lot back in training, I think that the poor souls start today after there 7+ weeks holiday, of course they will be knackered by the end of September!

They should have been back a week+ ago, it has been a gripe of mine for a fair few seasons that we don't look fit enough. Under the greatest Manager in my time, Mr Saunders they would not have had 7 weeks off!

I'm not sure having them back a week earlier would make too much difference. Besides, they're probably put on a training programme whilst they're off to keep themselves in shape.

Considering that they are often employed six days a week, seven if we have a particularly crowded fixture list, and have to work on most Bank Holidays, seven weeks annual leave in a year doesn't seem particularly excessive to me.

Getting to retire at 35 as a millionaire, what appalling work conditions.

I never said it was. Regardless of profession, people are entitled to time off.

Moaning about Villa not being back in training before the last week of June is just moaning for moaning's sake.

As with most employment it should be about the quality and quantity of work our employees put in , a lot if not all of us possibly feel we've been had on both counts in the last five years. Less so last year but against vastly inferior opponents

Not if come the hull game we are puffing out of our arses after an hour, like we were for first ten games of last season

You would hope that fitness wont be an issue because all else aside there can be no excuses for not being fit

Well, no. But we should still be capable of being fit in the first game while allowing players to take a break. Same as every other club seems to.

Given that back then pre-season fixtures consisted of a game or two in Europe if we were lucky and a couple in Devon I bet they would have.

hello, I am back in the UK after 12 years in the Netherlands and was hoping to go to the Shrewsbury friendly with my son. It seems that I need a membership number for each ticket? I have one, since I used to be a season-ticket holder, but how can i get another one? (Sorry if posting in the wrong place).

The criteria mentions Villa Cash, but I think that has been phased out so you would only have that if you had it last season... it's not something you can buy.

However, it's been on general sale since 30th June so not sure why you wouldn't be able to get one?

It may be that they are requesting booking history, in which case anyone who has bought tickets recently should be able to help out by providing their reference number. I would help but we are using our references for this game.

thanks, cdbullyweefan

It's definitely insisting on one reference number per ticket, but I think we'll just go in the main stand (ie not the away end)

Hopefully, someone on here will have given you a spare reference but just to make you aware it is an all ticket game and tickets cannot be purchased on the day of the game, even for the home stands.
