It was a terrible game, that for me was drifting away to a late winner for them until Gabby came on.

I was done with him, but he did exactly what was required, bladdering the ball off their stricken fullback was a crude but massively effective mood changer.

It's nice to see us play the psychological card successfully, more so obviously because it's that lot and their new shitehawk of a manager.

Quite. Fair play to Bruce for playing the card so well and credit to Gabby because he completely changed the tone of the game, even before he scored.

Dreadful game as these fixtures often are

What, Villa fixtures?

Was sent this by mates in Germany yesterday. "Best song of the week. Pure goosebumps"

This has obviously gone down very well far beyond B6.

Not a fan of Oasis personally. But Iike this very much.  There have been many attempts by fans to force an anthem on the club but these things come naturally out of the situation / circumstances. For whatever reason this has stuck and struck a chord with our following. Who gives a shit that they're from Manchester.

Know what you mean about Oasis, but I've always had a soft spot for this one. And as you say this has struck a chord. I think it's great that it came about naturally after that win at Reading, and it's a good sign that the club has picked up on this.

The goal on about 22 minutes.

That's absolutely hilarious. "Shit, shit!" And then the sight of Gabby celebrating his first goal in 14 months over the crook of a knuckledragger's head-cradling arm. Absolutely beautiful.

Just made me laugh out loud on the train

Made my day

I'm no fan of Gabby, and his contribution yesterday doesn't wipe the slate, but look at that picture.

He's a Villa fan and we all know exactly how he feels at that moment.

Not that I'm too worried, but I've seen a few reports online about Paul Robinson's reaction to the goal, i.e. kicking and punching Chester. He might find himself in bother with the FA.

That's class. What a feeling it must be to be a player stood in front of the Holte, the best part of 40,000 Villa absolutely belting out a song like that and the sheer joy and adulation.

If that doesn't want to make you feelmlike youre playing for a big ckub and make yiu want to give your right bollock to succeed, nothing will. Superb.

The best noise since that guttural 30,000 strong roar in the last 5 at Wembley

Much discussion yesterday after the game about the Oasis song.  How did it get to be that they play it after every win at Villa Park?  Has it just taken off due to the announcer's personal musical preference?  The crowd seem to like it mind and so I suppose we can adopt it as ours.

And on the subject of the announcer and his musical choice, why does it have to be so ear splittingly loud?

Have the Brigada lot minus the drum found a new home in the corner of the lower North Stand?

It was played over the tannoy at Reading following our win there - our first away win since the pyramids were built. Our fans joined in spontaneously. It seemed to fit, because despite all the crap that had happened to us these past few years, we're not bitter. Hence, 'don't look back in anger.'

I don't care that it's a naff song, that it's Oasis or that they're Mancs. It fits the mood and gets people singing. That's all you need.

It started at that night match at Reading in October when they played it as our 4,000 fans were celebrating a first away win in 18 months - everyone just joined in and "don't look back in anger" seemed to sum up the feeling after such a miserable 18 months on the road.
