Great result, always enjoyable beating Blues. Met many Villa fans on the way up today. Always good to chat with fellow exiled supporters who will travel large distances to watch Villa. Horrible performance from both teams. We will need to improve massively next season.

Just think, a fat has been who hasn't done anything in years, who is best known for scoring winners against your toilet of a club comes on, after months and months in the wilderness, eating crisps and sunning himself and scores another winner, after winding you up and starting a fight with one of your players. It must really hurt. It makes me like Gabby a little bit knowing how much he hurts them.

The rags are hilarious. Their ground which is a spittoon of humanity, their support, away following which you could fit on a number 11 bus, ball bag badge, Paul Tait, 15 match legends, the Jasper Carrot suite which is like something from Pheonix Nights, being owned by Dildo salesmen then the richest hairdresser in the world and then by someone who sacks a manager to replace him with 90's toy Troll Zola, even Robbie Savage knowing they are shit and manufacturing an escape to BLACKBURN, fuck me, Blackburn. Their entire support being turned in to some kind of mental, chip on their shoulder obsessed morlocks after spending their whole history in our shadow devoid of light or attention. A stand that is on the brink of collapsing on to a railway line, a stand that looks like it's been made of wood at the turn of the century, pitch invasions by them by blokes holding Tesco carrier bags and wearing a stained vest. The Leyland Daf cup. Still managing to lose to arguably the shittest side in our history. We could go on and on, they are an embarrassment and a figure of fun in equal measure.

Long may they continue!

I concur

Can we not just enjoy ourselves without descending into how low have we sunkism?  It's not like another opportunity won't be along in a minute.

Well said. I don't care what league we're in or how shit we are, a victory against that horrible lot will always be welcome. Well done Villa and Gabby. Up the Villa! I'm over the bloody moon!

Cork Villa's lack of pleasure in the win only increases mine.

Same here.

There are 3 of them all stood in a line. They're probably in the pub now telling tales of how "we took the Holte".

Great that we won; because it's a win in the derby, I am excusing a truly awful game with a lack of creativity all over the pitch.

May sound strange,  but I've enjoyed some of our defending this season when we're a goal up...probably because apart from Kodjia, there is nothing to get too excited about.

Dreadful game. No creativity. Great defending. Hutton was immense. Superb result. Under 11s vs Blackburn next week and a Huddersfield win and it might turn into a good season yet!

Love the win! Love how pissed off the noses and Harry Redkn-b are. Love the post-match celebrations on the pitch, in the stands and in the changing room. They demonstrate team spirit and the growing rapport between fans and players that has been missing for a while. Lots of work still to do, but a win against scum is always delightful. UTV!

My heart leaped in the queue for a Subway this afternoon, as my 'pocket computer' (snatch of Blondie lyric thrown in) updated and the goal went in.

Football is still the greatest game in the world, but then 'love is strange' (snatch of Billy Bragg lyric, which temporarily escapes me).

If we want the team to have passion and desire we must surely allow them moments like that picture. It was the worst Derby I have seen in terms of football but I couldn't give two fucks. Entertainment is not high on my list when we play the rags. Get in, get 'em beat, get out.

Pleased we won, pleased they didn't, pleased for Gabby, and love the way he really gets under their skin.
Good day all round despite the standard of the football, although as poor as we were again today there isn't one of their players who would get in our team. The only other team I've watched this season and thought that were Rotherham.

Although if our plan is to launch the ball sixty yards in the general direction of a lone striker, Jutkiewicz would probably be able to do a lot more with that than Hogan can (and did).

Back 4 and Milo magnificent today. As for the midfield Lansbury, Adomoh, Bacuna and Jack simply not good enough.

Would give MOTM to Baker, lost count of the clearing headers he made in our box. He also had 2 headers in their box, which eventually led to Gabby getting the winner and his customary goal against the Blues. Let's hope Nathan has an injury free season in 17/18.

Probably the worst derby I've seen since the one at VP in the mid 80s, which we also won 1 - 0 and ended as the players were leaving the pitch, with Noel Blake headbutting Steve McMahon

On leaving we were mulling over what team we should play at Blackburn.  I think the first name on the team sheet should be Libor Kozak, the second should be Tommy Elphick, the third should be Mark Bunn, the fourth should be Micah Richards (at centre back), fifth Gary Gardner, sixth Gabby then perm any five from the rest of the squad excluding Johnny Kodjia.  Elphick captain of course.

I think it would only be fair to play our best players against Blackburn. Therefore I'd play Kodjia in goal, Chester on the left wing and Jedinak up front.

It might also be the ideal time to try out a 1-2-7 formation , just to see whether it works for next season.
