Good to see Essex win the championship. Always nice when one of the not so fashionable counties can come through

Can't really think of Essex as being an "unfashionable" club as they were always competing for the title when I started watching.

We are officially down now. We have just been nowhere near good enough with the ball and especially with the bat. A season that rivalled 2015-16 Villa in its incompetence.

Essex aren't one of the big counties, so think it is nice to see them win it.

The big counties would be:-

Yorkshire
Lancashire
Nottinghamshire
Warwickshire
Surrey
Middlesex

I still consider Essex one of the big teams based on my youth when they were winning loads. On which subject... Worcs surely back up now. Hope it lasts more than a season.

Hopefully Notts beat Northants next week to save Worcs needing any points in last game :-) 10 academy players + Ashwin did very well this week, good win.

After Pepsigate, I'm glad to see Worcs managed to get back on an even keel. Batting in the last few games has been excellent.

Essex were always there or thereabouts in the late eighties, early nineties (the Gooch era) but haven't been a force for many years. I agree that they are not one of the big counties, their grounds tend to be smaller than the big six ADVF mentioned.
Anyway, with Essex winning and Villa winning today it's turned into a great week.

It has largely, hopefully Fell can get a few in the last game, being top of the league with a number 3 that has hardly got going all season is good - whichever division we are in with TKC & Kervezee contract being off the books we need a couple of senior batsmen in to cover when form is lost.
