It's getting away from Bears. 64 required from 5.

First time I've been down Edgbastin in a while.

My main observation is that Alex Mellor is a very poor keeper. Keith Piper would be turning in his grave.

I don't think so.

I'll rephrase "Keith Piper will be laughing into his bong".

That sounds more like it! Phew, I thought I'd missed another sad demise for a moment there. I really liked Piper, easily the most athletic keeper I've seen in the flesh.

Just got back in after being ar Edgbaston earlier tonight.  Enjoyable night even though the Bears lost and a good crowd to boot.  Thought the early overs cost us the game and Bell got the tactics wrong during that period.  He bowled the quicker bowlers at the end where there was a short boundary on the leg side and they got peppered in those first few overs.  De Grandhomme's one over was a really poor effort and he went for 30.  It was noticeable that Worcester did it the other the other way round and bowled their slower bowlers from that end.

On a more positive note, I thought Sibley looked good with both bat and ball. He's just the second spin option we need.   Agree about the comments about the wicketkeeper.  He did the rare thing of conceding a five after one he let through hit the helmet.

Yep. A rare but costly cock-up, considering we lost by those five runs.

Tim Ambrose is way better than Mellor! Crazy selection. Ateeq Javid or Josh Poysden in for Rankin.

Just got in pissed as fuck. CDG's over was one of the worst I've ever seen. Looking forward to seeing the new side in proper cricket.

Mellor cost us 5, then let a ball go for 4 runs in the next over, from Patel's bowling.

We were always slightly behind in the run chase, was a good game though.

Yep, extremely poor for someone who has played international cricket.  To serve up four leg stump full tosses around 70 odd mph with a short boundary on the leg side was awful.  That over going for 30 probably cost the game.

Bears should have won that, 30 runs conceded in one over, and the poor keeping of Mellor cost them dearly.

Forgot to add - thought the Kiwi spinner was excellent for Worcester.  Strange action but bowled very well.

15,000 spectators as well.

I said at the time that we were very shrewd in rebranding as the Birmingham Bears when we did. We now already have an established "brand" which no other team will have, I'd imagine that may make it a more attractive proposition to them foreign mercenaries but also we may well sell out game after game.

Well done Colin Povey (I think it was him).

I still think it's a stupid idea. You had 15,000 people in, many of them singing "Warwickshire na na na", didn't hear a single "Birmingham" song, and wouldn't in case people thought I was a sympathiser with Small Heath.
