Photo finish at New Road. If Hastings stays in you'd think the Pears will see it home.

He's out, Pears need 36 from 32 with 3 wickets in hand.

28 needed off 24, they're still 7 down.

Patel went for 16 off 5 balls so the Pears won by 3 wickets under D/L.

Depth in batting again for the Pears is the get out of jail card!!! Cox, Whiteley, Hastings, Leach & Barnard occupying 6-10 & Shantry with 1st class 100 to his name at 11.

Hopefully beat Durham now & qualify!

I was at New Road today. Worcestershire bowled very tightly in the middle period and gave Durham a hell of a lot to do. Kudos for keeping 270 out of reach on that pitch. A beautiful day to watch a cricket match.

I returned early from a break in London for the Warwickshire game thinking I must have gone wrong in my brain tank.

As it turned out, i was a good decision and there was some great cricket. With the wind back to the prevailing south westerly the sky line was endurable with only 3 layers of clothing and scarves and woolly hats were not necessary.

I heard recently that even though we won this competition last year we had the lowest ratio of 6 hits against the opposition on a match by match basis. Clearly, Trott and Bell had been told this would have to change and hit some beauties. Bell was in sparkling form.  Of course, it might be that because the result  didn't matter a fuck, they just decided to enjoy themselves.

Good knock by Rikki Clarke as well, but the word among the members is that he will soon off to pastures new.
