Can't really add Coventry to this as they are so clearly down already.

Wolves and Forest are both in real danger od the drop. Blues need a couple more wins and draws and they'll be safe. As much as I'd like to see them go down, I can't see it happening (would be delighted to eat my words).

Can't we anyway just for the hell of it? Knowing how much they hate us makes their misfortune all the more entertaining.

Still think wolves too good to go down whilst the unwashed clearly haven't bought into Zola. Mcclaren to small heath and he has no great recent track record

Their run is difficult bar Rotherham. I think they are going.

It would be an epic, even by their standards, 'achievement' to end up relegated this season. They were 4th when they sacked Rowett in December.

They were 7th

Knowledge.

It's on BBC sport today with his impending Derby move.  Top class information.

Correct sir, I checked on stato. Only two points off 4th place Huddersfield though.

Lambert has never relegated a team...so there is always the first time!

Would still be touch and go on 50 points I reckon, their GD is worse than Blackburn and Wigan and Wolves and Bristol City are starting to pick up points now.

Is it just me or do they always seem to get relegated in the seasons when we play them at home in late April?

A return of the of the once bi-annual relegation party would be most welcome.

And as usual when he needs a result Lambert finds one which once again promotes the myth of him being a promising manager on the verge of something great.

Wolves and Blackburn picking up more points raises that safety tally so little more pressure on SHA to respond....

As much as I dislike giving them oxygen I would find it hilarious given how long they've waited for us to be relegated for them to go down the season we've joined them....particularly from their position at xmas and sacking a successful manager.

Would be such a SHA thing to do...come on football gods.....

going up, they're going down, they're going up, they're going down...

I dunno who came up with that song, but in pure pisstaking terms, it's perfect.

maths and relegation
« Reply #133 on: March 16, 2017, 04:23:10 PM »
with 9 games to go, and still room for improvement, the mathematical calculation of the chance of relegation is now on the agenda. With the exception of Rotherham, who can still mathematically save themselves from relegation but only if half a dozen sides lose every game, the possibilities assuming every side wins every game - sorry this is maths not reality  - shows that Villa can get a maximum of 75 points. Other clubs at risk are as follows

club                     played       points        max
Villa                     37             48             75
Blues                    37            44              71
Wolves                 36             42             72
Burton                  37             41             68
Forest                   37            40              67
Blackburn              37            39             66
Bristol                  37             38             65
Wigan                  37             34             51
Rotherham           37             17             44

Victory at Wigan on Saturday would make it impossible for them to catch VIlla whatever happens. However WIgan has a good defence - better than 10 above the in the table - and Villa are very poor at scoring. 37 goals in 37 games is not good at all. So expect a low scoring draw I think.

if it were true maths you should equate that some of those teams are playing each other so the end points results are therefore impossible
