I think the mistake they made was the whole posing for photo's with Bruce when they announced they were sticking with him. I don't see any evidence of them being weak. Maybe they're just two people who have only until last week took full control of the club, now have a ceo in place and are taking stock of things before they rush into anything.

Good points.

He is getting himself into DOL territory with his post match bull shit at the moment.

Yes he really doesn't have to go down that road , why doesn't he look forward and talk about improving and accept we have been poor

agreed, and by alienating fans he will only ever be one poor result away from calls for his head.

As we walked away from the ground last night I said that the main thing Bruce should do was to be respectful and dignified in his post match interviews and not try to score points.

He obviously didn’t hear me.

It's not like you talk about him in a respectful way.

There will be an element of supporters like myself who are not staunch Bruceouters but who have recently decided his time is up due to the way we have played, the mindset, the players out of position, the lack of an apparent plan, the scattergun approach etc. Now last night, for the first time, he appeared to see what we could see. He played 2 up top, didnt play a DM, played players in their correct positions on the whole and for the first time i thought he may just turn a corner here. There were still things that pissed me off (Jedi at CB, although understandable due to heading ability, Jack struggled on the wing although getting him, CH and JMcG in the side is difficult, finishing the game with no strikers and finally no subs before 70m again) But i thought we can build on this.
He then comes out and gives it the big I am and i just thought what a twat. He will look an even bigger twat if we get turned over by SW on saturday. Infact, i think he is 1 or 2 losses from the bullet

I've lifted the direct quotes from the Express and Star and ignored the rest of the article.

“I have got four promotions, last year I nearly had a fifth. Yet I don’t know what I am doing?

"Unfortunately it filters through the mad few.

We are Villa and the expectation and belief is huge but common sense is needed.

“The vast majority of supporters are right behind what we are trying to do. You can feel it in the stadium. If they wanted me out, the stadium would have erupted with it before the start.

“The supporters can see we had a bloody awful performance at Sheffield. Now we are sitting in sixth. I hope it shuts a few up. But I doubt it.”

“I’m pleased for them. With all the nonsense which has been written the right response was to win.

“I think my record speaks for itself. They all need a chance to settle in but when they do I know we are going to be there or thereabouts again.

“The nonsense, I can’t stop. But I will do, given time.”

: “I think we have been close, apart from two games - Sheffield United and the cup game, when I made nine changes.

“Apart from that I thought we looked a decent team against Ipswich, a very decent team against Brentford.

“Reading we conceded in the last few minutes. The most intelligent people will see all through the nonsense and see we have the makings of a decent team.”

There's so much bullshit, contradiction, and offensive shite in this. I'm sure he's been told another defeat and he's gone. Or, he's deluded.
So calling out the mad few and unintelligent, it is reminiscent of Hilary Clinton’s “ basket of deplorables “ comment”
It did not work out too well for her, who is the managerial equivalent of Trump?
Drain the swamp.

Thing is it seems slightly foolish to come out referring to the ‘mad few’ when we’ve won 1 game in 6. Currently we look to have the same issue we did last year, the capability to go on a really poor run of results, and this time without a solid defence. Until he demonstrates that one poor result won’t be followed by 3 or 4 poor results then he should keep his own counsel.
Also pointing to 4 previous promotions is irrelevant, he’s had two opportunities with Villa and failed twice.

It wouldn't be all that surprising if we went on a good run over the next 10 or 12 games and then hit a buffer for 4 or 5.

Wins at Ipswich and Reading and then late points at a tough place like Blackburn or performing much better against Brentford suddenly don't seem so bad. Nothing can excuse how dreadful Sheffield United was mind.

According to the Mail there were supportive chants for Bruce after the second goal last night.

By god if that’s true, some punters have incredibly low expectations

It's called supporting a football team.

One of the reasons he’s had 4 promotions is the fact that he’s also had 2 (or 3?) relegations that have presented the opportunity to get promoted again. Kind of devalues his boast a bit doesn’t it?

Yes that would be great however being burdened by experience I would say opposite is probably likely.
