Brentford apart, he hasn't got a tune out of his players for ages.  Clearly, the Brentford game was the exception rather than the usual rule of turgid crap.  I want him to do well, but he doesn't seem to draw any consistency from his players.

And I still maintain we weren’t that good vs Brentford; more that they were more offensive themselves in trying to win the game which left more space for our pedestrian football to get through.

I'd think they'd been rash.

Don't mistake opinion on here as being in anyway representative of the match going support. Closest I've heard was somebody decrying him at Ipswich.

I'm sure plenty have reservations and feel disappointed at certain times, but this site doesn't capture the mood of the away support or really any of the home support by me.

I agree with this,
the home and away fans have always sang Bruce's name and given him their backing
to be honest I've been amazed at times as i sit there watching the garbage he puts on while people around me sing his name, but it's true what you say the fans have so far been unwavering

the big difference now and I said this yesterday is the new ownership,
you me and and the general fans watching week by week won't make the decision to change him
the new owners will

he might be good enough for large sections of supporters who have been served up so much shit they are now used to it but he won't be and definitely isn't good enough for the two chaps who are now in charge

say what you like, excuse Bruce all you want but they will change him, they will have to because no good will come of Villa while he's in charge and they will know that already

it's just a matter of time

Agree Gar.  We attacked a lot but created very little in the way of clear chances.  Brentford were only dominant (if that) for about 10-15 minutes, and yet created more and better chances (or our defence did it for them) and could easily have been 3 or 4-1 up at the end.

Steve Bruce = austerity football. People will only put up with it for so long, providing they can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Steve Bruce has had ample time to turn it around. He won't be Villa's manager for much longer.

I think that's a separate issue though, not that I disagree. But generally I think it's always been that way.

Lambert got absolutely dogs abuse from the away end at White Hart Lane, but he ended up getting till February with a contract extension in the August!

My point is more generally that if you took this site as a view, you'd think there was a lot of anti-Bruce feeling when there is not.

To go back to your point, I don't think the new owners will hesitate should they need to get rid of him.

I don't think that time has come though and realistically a win on Saturday, puts us in a position that should garner no complaint.

I fully accept how disappointing the past two Saturday's have been and if that continues as a trend, then we will be Play Offs at best and lower at worst. In the case of the latter, action may well be taken.

Regarding the fans, there are quite a few by me in the Holte, who if they hear anyone say anything negative about Bruce or Villa have a right go. There are about 6 or 10 who are mates who bully and shout anyone down. They are 100% behind Bruce. I think there are quite a few and probably the majority of Villa fans support him.

I regularly hear people asking him to give them a wave. Let's just add Goodbye to that.

I slagged Bruce at the Brentford game for dicking around with his substitutes and a bloke a few rows behind was chunnering about the anti Bruce protest brigade. There’s a lot of support for him out there but it doesn’t take long once the away fans turn for that to feed through to the Home crowd. Couple more bad results and he’ll be facing his McLeish “Bolton” moment.

I dont see it. It's not a tinder box or a powder keg or anything like that.

Anyway, we'll beat Sheffield United and be on 12 from 6.

Quite possible Ads, it’s the Bruce way, follow up the last week or sos disappointing results/performances, pull out an away win from somewhere paper over the cracks for a few more weeks until the next run of poor results see us slip away from the top 2. Rinse and repeat.

I’ve given him too many chances, no more, I just don’t see how he’s moving the club forwards or has the ability to change what he’s doing.

That's a staggering indictment of how differently people can see things.
After the fortunate and somewhat directionless start we've had against teams, none of whom will be promoted this season, I guess I'd just like to ask anyone who still thinks that Steve Bruce is the man for the job if they can tell me what our style of play is under his direction ?
If you have a squad like ours then, with a bit of luck, you will be better than the majority of the opposition we face each week in this division - maybe that's the plan.
We scored three goals in each of our opening two games  - by 5 defenders plus one own goal. I couldn't have called that personally but maybe that's the plan.

I'm very much attracted to the calls for Juan Carlos Osorio - now there's a man that likes to put together a plan!

I don't see anything to suggest we are moving forward.  Too many dropped points already, and some lucky points salvaged at the death.  Playing Jedinak at CB was the point at which I lost patience.  We should make a change.

Juan Carlos Osorio ? Imagine having to sing his name....how can it fit in with claret and blue army. On that basis it's a no from me.
