I get why some people think it’s bizarre wanting him gone after five games unbeaten but 1) he’s been consistently average to shit for us and 2) even if by some miracle he gets us promoted he’s got a poor record in the prem, so once we slip 4 points behind the leaders it’s easy to see into the future and think this is not going anywhere useful in the medium to long term so let’s get on with finding someone more inspiring. Bottom line, looking at his performances at a number of clubs over a number of years, he’s average to poor as a premiership/championship so there’s no wriggle room once we can’t beat Reading at home.

Unashamedly english old school doesnt think he needs to develop in much technical ways.

Clearly needs ready made quality players and leaves little to development.

If they need that he doesn't give much chance.

Davis isn't size of RHM and he may not have even played him if he was but hands were tied and played him last season by default.

The way I'm perceiving this Bruce is that now he encouraged to be more entertaining and attacking so fair enough brought in players to do that but I think he'll stick them in with no game plan and just get them playing and scoring goals.

Very basic approach to league Villa are in.

I fear he not interested to do anything than get his bunch of class  players and just expect them to win without much stratergy in management.

Often fails to come up with any major tactical changes which work well and will use his honest excuse policy to sound empathetic .

It's then after this affable Geordie has spoken that we re like "hang on you're the boss ! Where's the responsibility"

However it's tiresome and listening to him wither on here and there just annoying .

My hope is the clear playing philosophy will be enforced and made by the creative and attacking players coming in.
I don't think he's looked to develop or create one.

Essentially it's the 2 loan signings (short termism) who are far too good for this league which will give him time and results .
I give vote to Christmas because December
It's boro away1st , 8th wba away, then 15th December stoke home.  leeds home 22nd
And Swansea away boxing day

Before then we have supposedly weaker opposition but I think  he'll have a struggle against these lot in December especially if we haven't improved on results.

However the chance to have momentum up to this period could certainly keep him in contention but that's more the players and not Bruce and coaching staff unless there's some idea to work on things !

Im starting to think John Terry was more important in the dressing room than bruce or his coaches. I have no faith in any of his coaching staff.

I think you may well be correct in that assumption

His points per game average has always been in and around the play offs,  we all know with our squad we should be reaching far higher. Yes it's very early in the season, but we had such a generous set of early fixtures, so we should be doing far better. The problem is,  none of our players will improve under him and the sooner our new over lords take the Southampton model and get rid of him like they did with Adkins, the better.

Sitting fourth, still unbeaten, no-one running away with it and we’ve dropped some important points.

Bruce out?
It’s not about just this season though Frank. Show me where we have improved significantly under Bruce. I seriously cannot see any real improvement under him.

It is all about this season and we have Bruce like it or lump it. Based on the start it’s not a sack him situation yet. I genuinely am not a Bruce fan boy, but I just don’t see that any majority is going to be singing Bruce out songs after the start we’ve had.
You can’t just separate this season from the previous two Frank. Bruce is the same manager this season as he was the last two. His tactics are the same, the football the same, the excuses the same. In fact he’s been the same for 20 odd years so it’s not all about this season.

We are all entitled to our opinions and H&V is the best site for intelligence and fairness but lately it all feels like a witch hunt. I am no more convinced than anybody that Bruce is the right man to take us up but I do know he stopped the rot and he deserves his chance

Which some would argue he had last season. Others would add the season before as well.

I would.

The fact that we are unbeaten is quite meaningless with regard to the fixtures and performances. We are getting close to two years of this, we have no definitive style, a last minute winner and a last minute equaliser barely paper over the same old cracks.

These are exactly the type of results we’ve become used to early on in a season which leaves us with too much to do later on. He’ll be gone after we play Blose.

If we've fucked over Jack Grealish's career aspirations for anything less than a wholehearted, full blooded determination to get to the Premier League this season then we should be ashamed. Jack deserves a shit load more loyalty than Bruce.

Well exactly. It's okay people saying we're only five games in, we're unbeaten, but I'd say we've dropped six points this week - isn't that how far we were off automatic promotion in May?  Every time we drop points the margin for error gets smaller and the pressure rises.  If we're going up we need a storming start. This ain't it.

As a few others have said the comments about it only being 5 games in ignores that the problems are the same.

My first post on this thread:

This is why I was critical of shit performances in november, yes we were getting results but you just can't play shit week in and week out and not expect the results to start going against you.  There's maybe  something in the idea that we could've got more out of the last 3 games but in all 3 cases things have started to go shit and Bruce has sat on his hands and let it happen and then made subs once the game is gone.  So we have a manager who can't change a game once it's underway, who can't create any coherence in our attacking play, who seemingly hasn't been able to find a way to get the defence to play as a unit and who had a bit of early luck that has now completely abandoned him.  Given all of that what sliver of hope is there to cling to that we're going to be able to address this shit?

The last bit was in anger over just how shit we were at the time but everything else there could be written about almost any 10 match period under him.

1187 pages of debate about a manager who has NO idea how to use the HUGE resources he has had for over TWO seasons, that SHOULD have seen US promoted last season.

Well. What can you can.    ??

Nothing but OUT OUT......

Anyone know what was shouted at Calderwood/Bruce from behind the dugout and what he bit back with?
And did the owners write an article for the programme today? Anything of note?

Highest wage bill in the division and yet he has built nothing sustainable and that is why he does not deserve this job... when a manger comes in he decides how he wants to play, reviews the players at his disposal and then goes out and buys what he is missing. The Coaches are working day in and day out with those players drilling into them what they want. Over the next few seasons he should be improving the squad depth and also be integrated younger players so he has 2 players for every position so that it should be seamless when injuries strike.

Can anybody say he has done this despite all the backing he has received. His transfer policy just seems so scatter gun in its approach.

The question to ask is if we were looking for a manager tomorrow and you had seen his capabilities  would you hire him?
