This is the right decision. Henry may have what it takes, but this is no place for rookies.

Not appointing Henry is the right decision. Not sacking bruce, I fear, is not.

Totally underwhelming after the excitement last week -
Strapline = Dull (recent) past, equally drab (immediate) future
I guess the new owners are taking a pragmatic stance and playing it safe by retaining Bruce initially
As someone stated earlier had they have taken over at the end of the season they may have ditched Bruce then
Still looking forward to developments over the next few weeks but the excitement has been blunted somewhat - maybe not a bad thing but I can't see Bruce changing anything at this point in his career

Total lack of ambition, that said nothing surprises me at Villa, as for Henry having a lack of experience for this division, lets hope Derby find that out with Lampard, I fear the poo will hit the fan right from the start if we fail vs Hull, sad news, should do better.

After hearing that Edens is a touch trigger happy,  think there's a distinct possibility that if things aren't going well after 5 or 6 games he'll be gone

I've just met them briefly and I get the impression that they want stability first of all. Bring in a CEO, sort out the hundred little things that have grown to become one huge problem,  then let the people they employ do what has to be done.

Which is just as it should be.

It's a friendly against a team who like it or not are vastly superior and have spent £100m.

I am delighted he is staying.

We do not need more change. A three year stretch will be a fair measure, and he took us within a game, a goal, of the PL, hardly failure.

His target was promotion. He failed.

So presumably the outcome will be one of:

1) Thanks Steve but we're going in a new direction - France!

2) Thanks Steve but we're going in a new direction - not necessarily France but definitely somewhere you're not.

3) *through gritted teeth* You're the manager for the foreseeable future.

4) You're the man to take us up Steve!

My gut feeling is that despite the bookies and some of the media thinking Henry to Villa is a foregone conclusion, I reckon that whilst they have quite possibly sounded him out with a view to giving him the job they will wait to see how a face to face meeting with Bruce goes before deciding whether to stick or twist.

Damo bang on the money.

Funny how you can be so right  but you’re not yet a millionaire from your betting.

Indeed whilst I accept this decision Bruce is fucking lucky. He has failed and he’s getting a chance he doesn’t deserve.
